anyone else here looking to get into either seminole state's spring 2011 program or the concurrent as-bsn ucf-ssc concurrent program for spring 2011? i will be applying soon myself, and would like to see if there are other such applicants on here. maybe we can help each other!
looking forward to meeting new people.
Oh, by the way I just found this posting while searching allnurses for titer test (good to know):
[HINT: Make about 10 copies of the Varicella titer and keep them where you can find them easily. You will need to submit this to every single agency and employer you encounter for the rest of your working career, so have it handy.]
rmcconnon: Thank you for the response! I will probably end up choosing either master or classic II Littman, just want to research the differences when I get time...we just have so much to do! They are telling us the BG checks need to be completed by Nov. 30th; the drug screen portion online says to give it up to 10 business days- it will be cutting close!
I am also confused about the immunization paperwork...
I did just do some of this for UCF admissions/immun. hold, and had a headache of finding old records at a county record storage facility with hs records. Got it transferred to blue form, but the blue form was stamped and signed with an expiration date of late October! Oh well, need to go have the evaluation done by a health care provider anyhow. I will also be needing the varicella titer or immunization, and the tb test. Does anyone know more about the fit test?
Rmcconnon: Like you, the Meridy website also says my top size is XXS! I am also normally a size S-M. I'm not so sure about this... I have been measuring myself again tonight and considering ordering the top/warm-up jacket soon just so that it is in plenty early enough before clinicals. Definitely getting the pants at uniformality though.
Again- CONGRATS to all! I can't wait to meet you!
:)
Same here with the immunization paperwork...very confusing... I won't be able to get my hands in my immunization, so I will go to UCF and take the Titer's test-- while I'm there I will find out more.
What I understood...
is that I need to print all the forms and fax it to them.
- I will need hepatitis test or the waiver -
- A TB test.
- The titer's test should show I had the MMR immunizations
and the Varicella since I got them already as a child.
-Tetorifice
-Flu Shot
I guess I have to go to my doctor so he can sign, and give his recommendation based on my medical history.
uhmm ... he has to sign the immunization... I guess I will have to have the
titer test there ...I need to call them tomorrow and find out if they give it
there or if they will accept the one from UCF.
Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thank!!
This is what I understood from it too. Need to call the office and schedule this asap.
Oh! One last thing I forgot to ask about in my last post: does anyone have any plans for getting their basic life support for healthcare providers (required) certification? I was looking online for where to go....Thanks!! :redpinkhe
Hello everyone! I wish I would have found this while I was applying!! It seemed like such a taunting process, but in my case it all paid off! I received my acceptance letter to the concurrent program on Friday!!! I am looking forward to seeing all of you at the orientation. I have a final at UCF that day at 4pm so I need to talk to my professor and hopefully he will let me take my final earlier. There is lots to be done before the orientation so today I am going to schedule it all out. :)
Thank you for telling me about the basic life support for healthcare providers certification,is that the same as Cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification they talk about in the form?
Please let me know when you find some info.
I'm going to drop my accepting letter in person tomorrow:p
They will not accept the basic cpr card, only the training for the health care provider or rescuer...
My head spinning from all these TO DOs!!!

Jacksonleo, thanks for letting us know -- do you know were can we get this certification? thanks.
BTW Jacksonleo...Nice Attitude!!!!
-- I read one of your older posts and loved it, because that is the same
way I think. You posted one that said something like "you will approach the nursing program as a full time job and give it your all..."
That's the way I approached all my sciences classes, especially A&P and Microbiology and did well, and I'm ready to give this program my all!!! :heartbeat
whitewlf00I work at home but my business has almost dissapeared due to the economy. I am going to hold out for the first semester and then try to find work part time beginning in the second semester once I see how it gets (I hear from everyone that is going through it now or has in the past that the first semester is the hardest) and I am guessing... the most important to really get ahold of the fundamentals. I have attended several sessions in several schools and talked with several advisors and they all recommend NOT to work, that scholarships are available and, most importantly, some employers are now looking at your grades while in school as part of the hiring process...
whitewlf00, I agree - they recomment not to work, or work very little hours on the first semester. My GF only did the RN program, but we are doing
a 4 years BSN program in 2 years - so I can imagine the work load is much, much heavier.
