anyone else here looking to get into either seminole state's spring 2011 program or the concurrent as-bsn ucf-ssc concurrent program for spring 2011? i will be applying soon myself, and would like to see if there are other such applicants on here. maybe we can help each other!
looking forward to meeting new people.
My immunization update:I just called UCF and got an appt for today at 3:30pm
they will give me a Varicella titer ($30+), MMR titer($30-40)
TB test (23) tetorifice booster (20) today.
She told me to bring all required paperwork they will read it and
make sure I get everything I need.
Then I go back this Thursday and see the Dr. for a physical ($25)
and they can read my TB results.
I will let you know how it goes!
Thanks so much. Please keep us updated on this. I am going to call UCF to make an appointment. I called my doctor and they said to just go ahead and get all the titers done through UCF since they can get the lab results faster and then he will just sign the rest of the documents after a quick exam... I was due for my physical anyway.
Ladies, I will find out if we can do the American Red Cross CPR/Professional training instead (they have more classes available and are located on Bumby - 3 minutes from my house) OR does it have to be AHA and will let you all know. AHA offers these courses at local hospitals, health departments and fire stations but I will get more detailed info and will post...
Thanks for all of your help... I just dropped off my acceptance letter!! Just really wanted to do it in person (kinda like a ceremonial thing for me after all this work).
Here is the link to look up classes available from AHA...

Jacksonleo, thank you for the link for the BLS certification! Looked at a couple of places that offer it, going to decide by tomorrow.
So, what are you other concurrent program acceptees thinking about the email we got this evening? Regarding the orientation? Come in athletic clothing with bug spray, sunscreen, and rain coat handy?
I am looking forward to whatever surprise is in store! :)
I made my appointment to take care of my immunizations/medical clearance for early next week. Fingerprinting appointment set up the next day. All I can really do now is look at the uniforms more...would really like to make a stop at uniformality soon to do some trying on, to get some idea. The sizing is so odd.
I figure at first I will order just one set of uniform to try on also...then order more.
Wow...I have been so excited since I opened the acceptance letters! I'm even having trouble sleeping- I can't believe this is finally happening; I can't wait! I honestly did not even expect the concurrent acceptance as I am still finishing up a couple AA prereqs this term- but I am VERY happy with the decision!!!!!!!
Hard to focus on my current classes with all this paperwork on my desk! (Now have all the printouts from the immunization tracking site, too.) Since I can really only now order uniforms and wait for other appointments, I should be able to focus once again.
I didn't get an email
Hi Epetersen, did you email the concurrent department letting them know you chose to accept your seat? If you did, did you maybe give them a different email than the one you currently check? If you don't get the email soon, I would email them. It's just a general info email about orientation.

I emailed them and received a email back from Susan Ricci on Saturday letting me know that she received my acceptance. I used my main email and have not received anything yet, if I do not receive something by tomorrow afternoon I will notify them. Thank you for the information. :) It sounds like it will be an interesting orientation.
Immunizaton update (2)
Okay, so I went to my 3pm appt at UCF Health Blvd
No waiting at all for immunizations!
got in and showed my forms to RN - but I also made a list on the outside
of my yellow manila folder so I wouldn't walk out of there without the right
shots -
For UCF all I needed was a MMR shot (she said the titer test would probably not
show since I'm over 26 years old and my waste my money) so I went ahead and got it ($60+) then I signed a waiver for the Hep tests for right now.
then took the form next door and they removed the hold (make sure you request a copy for your records!!) Now I have to come back in 30 days for 2nd MMR shot and I'm done.
For Seminole State she gave me:
Flu shot ($10...nice)
Tetorifice (be careful she almost gave me the simple one, then the older nurse
came in and told her to give me the Tetorifice for medical students with has
diphtheria included) she called it "Adacel"
Sent me downstairs to the lab to get a Varicella Titer blood test
and TB test
My experience there was excellent! They bill it to my UCF account.
Epetersen: Sounds like a good plan. Hope it gets worked out.
Rmcconnon: Glad to hear you got that taken care of! Did you complete the entire medical clearance process as well? (The one that must be signed off by a health care provider, basically saying you are recommended.)
Does anyone know whether any of our uniforms (being concurrent students) will show that we are also UCF Nursing students? I vaguely remember some nursing students at the Alt. campus before wearing the jacket with the UCF College of Nursing logo. However, since we are ordering online through the seminole state account, now I'm not sure about this.
Only a few more weeks left of this term!! Then we get to start! :redpinkhe
