anyone else here looking to get into either seminole state's spring 2011 program or the concurrent as-bsn ucf-ssc concurrent program for spring 2011? i will be applying soon myself, and would like to see if there are other such applicants on here. maybe we can help each other!
looking forward to meeting new people.
Hey guys, I unfortunately received a regret letter today. I was unsure if I'd get in. I have a 3.4 and got a 77.3 on the teas (could've done better, but was unable to take it again because of timing). I'm bummed.
I am now waiting on a letter from Remington College of Nursing and University of Miami accelerated programs! Hopefully I will have better luck with them, even though I wont be looking forward to spending the extra $$!
Good luck to all of you throughout the program!
Florida2010, sorry to hear that.
I read on one of this posts that they will start taking applications in March?
for the Fall 2011 - anyone knows when??
I didn't score that high in the Teas either - I got an 77.1
Keep us posted on your letter from Remington College of Nursing and University of Miami !!
Is anybody going to be working while doing the programs?I am kind of nervous about it, I was going to try to work 25-28 hrs a week at my vet job.
I dont know if I can live off my student loans..
Whitewfl00, I'm not going to work (but I will feel like it , because I have a husband who works from home so I have to cook everyday and do all housework)
However, my girlfriend who just graduated from nursing school at Valencia worked 20 hours a week as a CNA at the hospital and has 1 child 13 at home,
she said it was a lot of reading but it was doable.
She said she was very busy, but still had some time to do her other part time job which is selling make up.
Her tips to me were to became very organize starting now
and manage your time -- 2 things I'm bad at
...oh and take small naps (10 min) so I don't walk aroung like a zombie.

I work at home but my business has almost dissapeared due to the economy. I am going to hold out for the first semester and then try to find work part time beginning in the second semester once I see how it gets (I hear from everyone that is going through it now or has in the past that the first semester is the hardest) and I am guessing... the most important to really get ahold of the fundamentals. I have attended several sessions in several schools and talked with several advisors and they all recommend NOT to work, that scholarships are available and, most importantly, some employers are now looking at your grades while in school as part of the hiring process...
I'm in the midst of getting things done that were in the packet. Registered for fingerprinting/BG check/drug screen/immunization tracking... about to look at uniforms online now. I am worried about the fit! I suppose I will order the pants from uniformality...going to have to start measuring for the top online...I also have no idea as to what stethoscope to order @ orientation- but I'm sure that will be explained!
How is everyone else coming along with getting these things done? It is exciting! Though...I haven't gotten to my hw yet!

I will get the pants in person at Uniformity in Longwood, because I'm picky about how my bottom will look : )
I am printing the picture of the top and taking it there too, so I can try something similar, according to the website I'm a XXS - I usually wear a M/Large
in regular clothes, but of course I will order the top from the website because they probably have the SSC logo.
As far as the stethoscope, I called my girlfriend who is a RN and she told me to get the classic II or master if possible. She said with the lower price one you may not be able to hear as good and tell the difference of sounds.
She also told me she has that same brand and it's a good brand.
Has anybody heard different?

from what I understand, you order the top OR the dress (unless you want both.. not me, I hate dresses) and if you want the jacket since it is the only long sleeve we are allowed to wear. The lab uniform we buy at the orientation and the pants you can buy from them or at Uniformity (I saw a group of current students and their pants all looked different so I guess as long as they are white).
