Spring 2016 El Centro College/ NLC ADN

Published

I know that it's VERY early right now to start gearing up for the Spring 2016 admission but I thought I'd start this post early seeing as I have already started taking my final classes, preparing to take the Hesi A2 test and submitting all my other documents for the program. If all goes well, I will be between 30 and 34 points. How many points do you think you'll be at when it's time to apply for the 2016 spring entry? What's the lowest score that they have accepted for previous entries? Are there any single mothers, such as I, who will be applying for the nursing program? Hope to hear more from others who are getting ready to join. Would love to get lots of feedback!!!!!

Took my hesi for the first time today and I'm definitely going to look into taking it again. I just wish there was another date besides July 14th. The math was simple math. adding, multiplying, and dividing fractions mixed and whole numbers. A lot of ratio to fractions and a few metric conversions. The vocabulary was simple and had a lot of words from the book. The evolve book is on point with every section besides a&p. I scored the worse on that section, it jumps all over the place.

Thanks for the heads up! Would you say that it mainly focuses on A&P 1 or both? I have the Evolve book but am going to try and get some additional study material for A&P. Just curious what sections I might want to concentrate on.

Thanks!

More a&p1 but I did recognize some material from the second part as well. Maybe I should have studied a little harder from the evolve book. I did like after I took the exam it gives you a "remediation". You can get online and study the material you missed on the exam

That's good to know. I'm glad I was able to schedule another exam. Hopefully having two shots at it will help out. Thanks!

I re-took my hesi today ya'll and I am still in shock.. I got a 96 overall score and am now able to apply with 32 points instead of 28! I really can't believe it. I know some of it was lucky guessing but what really helped me with the A&P part was a book called "CliffNotes Anatomy & Physiology Quick Review, 2nd Edition". I ordered it off of amazon for like ten dollars.

The Elsevier review book is awesome for studying the math and english portions. Like someone said before me, the vocabulary words on the test are taken right out of the book. Also, I did all of the practice questions for math in the review book and I got a 98 in math on the hesi so I would say it really, really helped.

Now I just have to worry about this Hepatitis A vaccination. I am seven and a half months pregnant and still debating on whether or not I should wait to get the shot until after I give birth. My doctor says it is safe but I am just a little apprehensive about it. His due date is July 3 so let's just hope I can get it and have it processed with Sentry MD before the application deadline!

Wow!! Congrats on a great score!! It's funny you mention that CliffNotes book because I bought that before I ever even started A&P 1 and never even opened it. I guess I better start studying it!!

You can go through north lake but they have dates for july 14,15,16...so i will try and retest july 14, if i can stop missing the links on north lakes website lol

The cut off was 26points with cumulative HESI score of 440, I had 26 points but my cumulative score was 418 so I didn't get in. I plan to reapply for the spring 2016

Well welcome to the Spring 2016 nursing forum for El Centro/North Lake. The good thing is you'll have a better chance and more points to work with so that way you have a sure chance of getting in! Keep us updated!!!

I will have 30 points next time I apply, and I also plan to take the TEAS V for TWU.

That's even better news!!!

If anyone is still looking for a good place to get their CPR certification done, I just got mine at Texas Heart CPR Training.. It was $35 and they have a location in Dallas and one in Plano. The instructor was great, I'd highly recommend them.

Well our deadline is just a little over 2 months away...what other requirements do you still have or want to fulfill before july 15th (classes, physical exam, hesi test, etc...)?
