Spring 2016 El Centro College/ NLC ADN

Published

I know that it's VERY early right now to start gearing up for the Spring 2016 admission but I thought I'd start this post early seeing as I have already started taking my final classes, preparing to take the Hesi A2 test and submitting all my other documents for the program. If all goes well, I will be between 30 and 34 points. How many points do you think you'll be at when it's time to apply for the 2016 spring entry? What's the lowest score that they have accepted for previous entries? Are there any single mothers, such as I, who will be applying for the nursing program? Hope to hear more from others who are getting ready to join. Would love to get lots of feedback!!!!!

Has anybody received their notification letter yet?

I got my call from Methodist. I am in!! Good Luck to everyone! I am so relieved, that she called me now and didn't wait until around 5pm.

The mailman had no letter for me today. Hopefully, I'll get a letter tom.

I can't take this!!!!!!

And I have absolutely no faith in my mail man what so ever. I've been receiving the whole neighborhood's mail for about 2 months now. As I'm sure they have been getting mine too...

I had to email ecc about a change of address after I found problems with my mail hold on the 14th!!! she mailed me back like ok no big deal. so my assumption is the letters weren't ready to go out yet. that's just total guestimation on my part lol

Nothing yet, still waiting.....

Im on pins and needles, waiting on the mail.!!!!

stalking the last few threads it looks like for Spring 2015 they went out 10/22 and Spring 2014 they went out the first week of Nov......

I called the office yesterday and one of the Department contacts, first said she was headed for vacation until next week, but she said the letters will be mailed off October 15th.

This process is such a stressful one and I am getting very anxious😣😣!! Looks like we will all be praying for those letters to arrive tomorrow!!!🙏🙏I was also told they would be mailed out today when I called the sch😯😯l!!!!Just holding on to positive thoughts!!!Good luck to us all!!!

I thought the dosage exam was just a self taught course and you just take the test when you are ready on a open slot test day? You said it was a semester course??? I plan on applying to BHC for Fall

Your correct, its not a "class", you just show up on one of the class dates and the instructor goes over anything you need help with and then gives the exam. Its 100 questions and you need a 90 or better, once you have that grade you submit it with your application packet. You do not need to buy the book either, just an fyi ;)

PD82 Sounds like you have taken the exam. Ok, so I had an entire response to this and I was up until 6am and I am not sure I have it in me to write it up as good as the first time. So I will do my best.

Basically, I called BHC and spoke to the Dept. of nursing secretary-- she is the one that said about this being a few weeks workshop. I had everything set to apply there except this dosage calculations exam score. I felt completely miss informed and S.O.L since I was going off the site information and I was thinking initially when I saw the powerpoint that it was something you did online and then you would just go to the testing center and take the exam. Well clearly that was not the case. This is what is on their page:

  1. Take the Dosage Calculations Workshop (Click here for registration information) offered through the Brookhaven College Continuing Education Department. The required textbook for the dosage calculations workshop is Brown, M & Mulholland, J.M. (2012). Drug calculations: Ratio and proportion. Problems for clinical practice. (most current edition). St. Louis: Mosby/Elsevier. Cost of the workshop is $75. At the end of the workshop, you must pass one of the final dosage calculations exams at 90 percent or greater. You will have three chances to obtain the passing score of 90 percent or greater. Final Dosage Calculations exam scores are good for two years.
  2. Then by going to the link you go to the DCCCD site to sign up for a "workshop"(online course) for $75.00

This is an on-line self-paced, self-taught course. After registering for the course, the student will need to log into eCampus to access the syllabus. There will be three on-campus meeting dates when a student can come to campus and ask questions, receive tutoring and take the final test. The dates are: August 1st 10:00am-3:30pm August 29th 10:00am-3:30pm September 12th 10:00am-3:30pm All on-campus meetings will meet in X-1091.

Anyway, I spoke to BHC and told them that I felt that it should be fixed for future students. They really should put the above information about how its date specific on their main page. Because of my original assumption, I wasn't able to sign up for the course and take the exam and then ultimately not apply.

But good thing I don't need to worry about it, since I am in at ECC. But definitely feel that this dosage calculation information and that the exam is only offered those dates should be put where that bold information is on their site.

Don't say: Start/End Date 07/10/15--09/18/15 --Having a start and end date makes it seem that I needed to have signed up by 7/10. And regardless on how self paced it is, the first available test date is Aug. 1st. which still has some weeks in between.

Ok sorry for the rant....just get annoyed when things aren't clear.
