Spring 2016 El Centro College/ NLC ADN

Published

I know that it's VERY early right now to start gearing up for the Spring 2016 admission but I thought I'd start this post early seeing as I have already started taking my final classes, preparing to take the Hesi A2 test and submitting all my other documents for the program. If all goes well, I will be between 30 and 34 points. How many points do you think you'll be at when it's time to apply for the 2016 spring entry? What's the lowest score that they have accepted for previous entries? Are there any single mothers, such as I, who will be applying for the nursing program? Hope to hear more from others who are getting ready to join. Would love to get lots of feedback!!!!!

Finally!!! I got tired of waiting and just resubmitted my whole packet to Sentry today and finally heard back this evening that I'm all clear. They responded to my email from today, so I'm not sure what happened to my original submission. Bermuda triangle I guess...

Just glad to have that out of the way. Now just going to work on filling out the application for El Centro and then the 4 month wait.

Yes I hate its a four month wait but I still have to take the Hesi...

Good luck! Just study those conversions, and general a&p and you should knock it out.

I have the hesi book 3rd edition but thank u i will definitely study those...Do you recommend anything else to study?

I thought most of the english was pretty easy. Maybe just study some of the vocabulary, but even that wasn't too bad. One thing on the conversions that I noticed, most conversions seem to be divisible by 2 or 4. So if I had no idea on the conversion, I would just see which of the answers would go into the question an even number of times, if that makes sense. I honestly just glanced over them before the test and only missed one question on the math. I was just able to figure it out from the available answers where as if it was fill in the blank, I would have been out of luck lol.

If you have time you should really try to do all of the practice tests for the math portion in the hesi study guide.. It helped me so much. They aren't hard, just time consuming. It's worth it though! Definitely study the vocabulary.. I highlighted the ones I wasn't very familiar with and studied those words the most. Unfortunately, the A&P portion in the study guide really doesn't help prepare you for the test. Something that might help is going over some of your old notes from A&P 1 and 2.. or maybe even skimming through your A&P textbooks. The hesi just asks such broad questions about A&P that its hard to say what to study exactly. The grammar part was probably the easiest section and the comprehensive isn't too difficult but they do ask a couple of trick questions so you really have to pay attention to what you're reading. My eyes got so tired from all of the reading from that portion so I wouldn't recommend saving it for last when you're taking the test. Good luck!! I'm sure you will do awesome.

Thanks guys I take the test July 10th.....I also have summer classes Im taking so im trying to manage my studying but i will take your advice and do the best I can...I really appreciate it

@bluefal2020 Registration for the HESI is not available until June 22nd. At approximately 11am, 3 links will appear and you will be able to register. If you don't see the links immediately, keep refreshing the page until they show up. If you would like to retake the HESI (if you have previously attempted it), then you can email [email protected] and see if they have another opening. I emailed them and they gave me the opening of June 29 since I had already taken it May 16.

@bluefal2020 You're welcome!

Hello Everyone,

I am also looking forward to applying for Spring 2016. The only thing is my immunizations are holding me back. I have already send all of my documents to Sentry and I am getting an incomplete due to my negative varicella titer(Igm and IGg). As a child, I did not contract the chicken pox and the first varicella vaccine I received I had an adverse reaction resulting in blistery sores all over my body and face. I was told via Sentry from the Dean that I will not qualify for the nursing program is I can not get the 2 vaccines or positive titer reading. I have no clue what I should do I do not want to risk having a another bad reaction or go into anaphylactic shock. DO you guys know if there is a way around this? PLEASE HELP!! I will be apply with 31 points if this is not my downfall. :(
