Spring 2017 Chat

Published

Now that January is here, I thought I'd start a thread where we can support and encourage each other through our Spring semester, similar to our Fall thread, but with a bit more chit chat. What's your schedule look like? Any other goals you're working on?

I go back on the 17th, though I have a Phi Theta Kappa meeting on the 13th.

My schedule is:

A&P II

Microbio

Federal Government

World Religions

The last two are online.

Right now I'm trying to lose this holiday weight, so I've started running again (it burns). I graduate at the end of this year! In December I'll have my EMT-B certification and my Associates of Science in Biology. I'll also be applying to nursing school (application deadline is August 1), so it's going to be a really exciting (busy) year for me! I'm hoping to use my EMT-B cert to become an ED tech during the summers.

I look forward to chatting with you guys this semester!

I feel like I am training for a race. After 5 years out of college I took Intro to Psych online again. Then in the fall took Intro Chem and AP1. Now Micro and AP2.

AP1 wasn't terrible it was all memorization and 7 exams. No homework or quizzes. Only 2 lab exams. Chem was a quiz every week, 4 to 5 exams, lab once a week, lab homework once a week, and a cumulative final.

Now this semester it's lab homework for AP2 every week that can be a few pages from the workbook, handouts, online homework, readings, labs, lab exams, cumulative exams, and disections. Micro is basically 4 exams, lecture, 2 lab days, lab homework, and cumulative exam.

Next level is Nursing school.

So I got my TEAS prep manual and was skimming the section quizzes and they all seem pretty easy. Has anyone on here taken it yet? I'm wondering if I worked myself up for nothing.

I found the study book to be tougher than the TEAS. Found sciences and grammar to be the most challenging on the TEAS. Lots of AP2, Micro, and Grammar rules questions.

I took the HESI A2 and it consisted of anatomy, chemistry, math, reading, and writing. I took it before I had taken chemistry and anatomy and still scored high in each section as well as high over all. You do very well in all of your classes so I have no doubt you'd do well on the TEAS. I know the TEAS and HESI are comparable and I thought the HESI was easy. You'll do fine, especially since yourself studying for it :)

You're so sweet

I LOVE science. Just wanted to say that.

What a great thread! We do a quarter schedule here, so I've been back for winter term since Jan. 3rd. Last term was brutal commuting to A&PI 5 days/week, English 101 online, working 30-40 hours/week and juggling 4 kids. So, this term I'm taking A&PII in town and working 25 hours/week. My teacher this term is also 1000 times easier than my last one. I got a 99 on the first lecture exam and an 85 on the practical. I did a moderate level of study for those marks. I studied my ASS OFF last term and the highest I scored on an exam was an 88. I'm so glad to have a life this term. Next term is Micro and pharmacology and then I'm off for a year while I wait to start the nursing program. My plan is to get my CNA and work full-time that year.

Hey hey hey! I'm taking my final semester of pre-reqs (YESSS)

A&P II

Micro

Speech

All online. Actually all but one of my classes have been online (community college) and I love it so much. I have four kids so the flexibility has been nice. That said, I applied to nursing school for this fall and I'm anxiously waiting to hear- probably mid February. So rattle some chicken bones for me that I get it. I have a 4.0 and got and 87 on my HESI so I feel like my chances are good, but I'm also wildly pessimistic when it comes to this stuff lol.

Awesome, good luck!

I was invited to apply to as an assistant for a research program that's taking place over the summer (10 weeks). Despite the fact that I have a packed summer, I'm seriously considering it. It would look pretty on a resume, and the lab experience would be amazing.

Oh also, I have an interview for a volunteer position at the Level 1 trauma center I *really* want to work at tomorrow. I'm nervous, and I have no idea what to wear.
