Spring 2017 Chat

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Now that January is here, I thought I'd start a thread where we can support and encourage each other through our Spring semester, similar to our Fall thread, but with a bit more chit chat. What's your schedule look like? Any other goals you're working on?

I go back on the 17th, though I have a Phi Theta Kappa meeting on the 13th.

My schedule is:

A&P II

Microbio

Federal Government

World Religions

The last two are online.

Right now I'm trying to lose this holiday weight, so I've started running again (it burns). I graduate at the end of this year! In December I'll have my EMT-B certification and my Associates of Science in Biology. I'll also be applying to nursing school (application deadline is August 1), so it's going to be a really exciting (busy) year for me! I'm hoping to use my EMT-B cert to become an ED tech during the summers.

I look forward to chatting with you guys this semester!

Got a 94 on my A&P II lecture exam over the cardiovascular system! It felt hard when I was taking it, but I did well.

I'm taking the HESI on Saturday. I need to study for it!

Specializes in Mother/Baby.

I'm taking it next Saturday and starting to freak out a bit! Do you have the book by evolve to study with?

Nope, I've been studying for the TEAS! I decided to apply to UTA on a whim and they require the HESI. I'm using online practice tests.

Finished the HESI. Here's my score:

Reading: 94

Grammar: 94

Vocabulary: 98

Math: 76

Overall: 90.5

Damn math. I'm torn between being proud and being annoyed with myself. I didn't really study and I obviously should have.

Specializes in Mother/Baby.

Hey! A 90 is a solid score and something to be really proud of, but it is okay to be annoyed if you know you could have done better. Are you thinking of retaking it to up your math score? I know you said you only took it for UTA. I am super proud of you for that score, 90 is great!

I can't wait until I have my HESI done with, I am breaking my brain this week because I spread myself extra thin over March. The practice exams I've been doing keep throwing Roman numerals at me and I get them a bit confused, so I know I need to focus on those.

I did make a 98 on my first micro exam this week, that surprised me a little bit because I didn't think I had that great of a handle on the chapters.

Thank you!!!

I had no Roman Numeral questions. 90% of the questions I did have were dividing fractions and mixed numbers and ratios. There were a few conversion problems (including some dosage calcs), too.

I don't think I'll retake it. That means I'll have to take a "remedial" math course, but I could use the math practice, obviously.

Great job on that micro exam!

Hi, I'm new here!

M name is Chrisma and this quarter I will be taking (all online):

Math 146

English 101

Nutrition 101.

This is my first quarter of pre-reqs and I am equally excited and nervous. I am a mom to two little ones and I work part-time as a research assistant. I was a straight-A student in high school and feel a lot of internal pressure to continue that academic standard. Hoping to go easy, but do well!

Hello ladies and gents. So sorry I haven't been as active this semester. AP II and Micro combined with my other classes Have been brutal. I'm maintaining A's in all my classes but it hasn't been a walk in the park.

Just wanted to share some great news I received yesterday. I got my acceptance letter to UMHB nursing school and will be starting this coming fall. If feels so surreal.

I hope you all are going well!!

Jen, those are great scores!!
