SPC Spring 2021 Applicants

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone! I figured I'd get a thread going for those of us who are going to apply for the Spring 2021 nursing at St Pete College. I am currently taking MCB2010 and MCB2010L and Stats for the Summer semester. I applied for the fall application with a 3.7 GPA, but obviously didn't have all 30 points for the courses. I knew fall was a long shot, so here's to staying the course and continuing on towards the dream! Let's connect with each other and support each other, as we are all on the same journey! I am newer to the Clearwater area, and always looking for additional study buddies or friends. My bf and I are both applying for Spring. I love creating helpful study guides, graphics, etc. I'm also a hairstylist who only works weddings, so Covid has made it harder to work and "free" time has increased, more time for studying! I hope y'all are well, and I look forward to chatting with everyone about our goals and just generally supporting each other during the big wait!

I’m curious, what preference for days or night is everyone? I’m personally hoping for days so I can help my sister out and be able to pick up my niece from school every day. I don’t mind taking a semester longer to finish.

Hi @treatpeoplewithkindness Nice to meet you:)

Absolutely I can share. Spring semester is a lot less competitive than Fall semester and the GPA's are a bit different as well.

Spring 2020 Admissions STATS....

Average GPA: 3.59 ( I've heard one of the lowest GPA's admitted for Spring was like a 3.2 in the past).

Calculate GPA here: https://go.spcollege.edu/hec/GPA_Calculator/Nursing-GPACalculator.html

Average credit points: 28.6/30

Number of applicants: 312

Number of applicants admitted: 135  (I don't believe this number includes applicants placed on the alternate list).

Also, everyone keep an eye out for sales at scrubs n' stuff (where we get our uniforms). I bought my uniforms earlier this year because they had a really good sale on them, we also get a student discount if you bring in your student ID.

Hope this helps!

If you have anymore questions let me know.?

And good luck to you! With your GPA I'd say you're a shoe in for Spring.

Thank you! That makes me feel a lot better!

I need nights.

@treatpeoplewithkindness

That's really nice of you to think of your sister and want to help her out ?I'm really hoping for nights. I personally am a fan of schooling over the Summer and would like to finish a semester early. I'm not picky though, as long as I get accepted I'll do either one. But I hope I can get in for nights. Currently they're doing blended, so half online and some on campus so I'm thinking the same will apply for Spring.

@jasonlynn

I'm going for nights too! I hope you get in for nights ?

@treatpeoplewithkindness my preference is Days. It would be easier for me with my kids I also have a son who will be four this Thursday! But @MaNixon so there would be a difference in finishing if someone was to do nights? What would be the month of graduation for nights and also for days? If you don’t mind me asking :)

Hi @Qua973

Yes, for students doing nights you'll attend for Spring 21, Summer 21, Fall 21, and Spring 22, then graduate that May.

For students doing days, you'll attend Spring 21, break for Summer, Fall 21, Spring 22, break for Summer again, and then Fall 22, and graduate that December.

If you attend the program during the Summer you will have an additional clinical day and heavier work load due to it being an accelerated semester.

Hey everyone!

I applied for Spring 2021 but Im still taking my Micro and stats Currently (fall 2020) so Im sure I won't get it but worth a shot, right?

I was wondering what made you guys choose SPC of other in the area like USF or HCC? I was thinking of applying to all of them for fall 2021 if I cant get in this year to SPC.

Hi @DaniLynn

Good luck with your classes! Micro and stats were a coupe of my favorites. Who are your professors? Hey, you never know unless you try! ?

It has always been my dream/ goal to attend SPC's program. I heard nothing but great things about the program. SPC nursing students are sought after at many facilities and hospitals and never really have trouble landing a job because of how known and great the school is. I really like SPC and it's affordable. I also live in St. Pete, so its convenient for me to attend SPC's program VS driving to Tampa everyday. I work at TGH and they have a partnership with HCC and USF, so I thought to apply, but I missed HCC's deadline and USF is expensive. The experience for everyone is different, but I haven't heard the best things about HCC's program from coworkers and other students, so I was slightly hesitant in the first place. I think if you are able, apply to all three that way you have options. But if you're dead set on going to a specific school, go for it and don't settle.

I totally agree that it’s definitely worth a try! I chose SPC’s program due to having a family member become a nurse at SPC so I felt more comfortable knowing that I already know someone who is going through the same exact things I am! I also just preferred SPC’s program over those. I also look better in navy blue scrubs LOL

I'm actually pre-Nursing at SPC & taking my prereqs still, so I was hoping I might be able to get some recommendations on professors. I still have Ethics, Stats, World Religions, A&P 2 w/ lab, & Micro w/ lab before I'll get to apply

@AngusBeef Hi! good luck to you on your nursing journey!

Just incase you haven't heard of it already, I wanted to mention that ratemyprofessor.com  is a great way to narrow down and choose which professor you want. Outside of the sciences, your other classes are easy (that was my experience).

For Ethics I recommend --------------------, he is great.

For stats I loved ------------------, she made stats a breeze.

For World religions its hard to say, I'm taking it now for the 2nd 8 week express so I will have my A.A. before Spring starts. I was originally taking it with --------------------- mormino because she was the only option, but I just switched to ------------------- 2nd 8 week express. I have heard nothing but good things about him, "easy A".

For A&P2, if ---------------------- is teaching, I'd go for him....If not, --------------------- (in my opinion) is good. With, ---------------------his tests are critical thinking mainly, so practice that and you'll get an A.

And lastly, for micro I recommend ---------------------! She is amazing! I had A+ all the way through. She makes micro so much fun, I'd take it again with her, just for fun.

Hope this helps ?
