So I am going to apply to SPC's RN program for the Jan 2010 semester. I have everything but my Micro/Lab finished. I know they look at your GPA from certain classes and I have all B's in those classes. If I get an A in my micro classes, do you think they will even consider me for enterance into the program? I know how picky they are! has anyone gotten into the program with a 3.1 GPA or anything? I am kind of putting all my eggs in this one basket! Thanks in advance!!!
Hi!
I couldn't help noticing that you are alternate #4 for spring and taking Micro right now. I am alternate #5 and also in Micro (Menard T/TH at Gibbs). I was wondering if you had any clue when the earliest is that they might let us know that we're in? I suppose as soon as all the EAYL people are officially hired and then drop their spots, that will free up ours....
My friends who got admitted got the orientation packets last week and I was told by HEC that they have 4 different orientations. I'm still in shock that I'm so high on the list since I'm still in Micro and Stats, but really need to make some arrangements for January!! I'm very excited, but hate living in limbo...
Any updates greatly appreciated!
I had my second interview foor EAYL today! I think it went well :) I asked how many people they are intervewing and how many will be accepted. She said about 35 are thru to the second interview and they are taking either 12 or 24 into the program. They are trying to get someone to teach Nursing 1,2 and 3...if they do, they will take 24 people vs.12. Decision will be made by the end of the month. Good luck to all :)
I'm not sure how soon they will notify us. I just got a letter in the mail for an alternates orientation next week, but I won't be able to attend. I'm sure once the EAYL interviews are complete we should start receiving calls. Hopefully!! Good luck to you and let me know if you hear anything.
Congrats Morgan! I'm glad it went so well.
Hi,
I went to the alternates' orientation today. They handed out the clinical and lecture list with the days and times (of course NONE really fit my life!!) and hospitals and we ranked our choices.**** **** gave us the breakdown on some dates for decisions and more letters and orientations, etc. He actually went and put the alternate numbered list on a thumb drive and then those who didn't know their number got to stand in line and find out - so that was nice for some people to finally have that very valuable information! I don't know why they just didn't do that in the first place...
Anyway, it was very informative and short and sweet. I've heard the real orientation is designed to scare you into becoming uber-organized asap or quitting before you even begin!
several posts have been edited as they contained names or initials of school officials. this is a violation of the terms of service that all of you agreed to upon registration. the terms of service states:
no potentially libelous information about specific schools, instructors, or health care facilities/entities should be posted in these forums. while it is important to be able to network, everyone should be mindful of the following:

this is the second staff reminder that has been posted on this thread.
They haven't let any alternates in yet, he has to go through and figure if any slots have become available (I was sitting next to alt. #1). I won't matter that you have a meeting Mon. it won't affect your hospital prefrence because it all depends on what becomes available. He did say the average is about the 1st 20 alternates get in, but could be more or less. Our ranking may have been effected by today's meeting because people who didn't show are out (unless they had made other arrangements) and there def. weren't 50 nursing students there. Also the ones who got in and didn't show for yesterday's meeting are out unless they already turned in their background check. Hope I helped!

An update: I had my interview yesterday with a lady (she is VERY hard to read I think) and she said they are letting 24 in this year. They must have found someone to teach the class and hopefully they stick to that number. Just wanted to pass along some good news. She told me that it would take about a month to find out anything, so that puts us into late November unfortunately.
Hi,
I just got the message in my email that you replied - how strange! Anyway, hope all went well with your mtg. He did say the day I was there that some alternates didn't show which meant an automatic reshuffling, so depending on where they were in the grand scheme of things, it may or may not affect us. I recall you were #4, though, right? I'm #5 so I'm sure we're in anyway. I just desperately want days so I don't have to do that grueling summer! And there is one location that is just sooo close to my home and school route that it would be so less painful to be there at 6 am, so I am praying hard for that one :)
Let me know if you hear anything and I'll do the same!
Take care
