SPC Nursing Fall 2018

U.S.A. Florida

Hey Everyone!

Thought I would be the first person to start a SPC Nursing Fall 2018 thread. Even though we still have one semester left before applying, I thought I would start a thread to get the ball rolling and to see where everyone stands. If are applying for the program in Fall of 2018, please let us know the amount of credits you will have at the time of applying and what your cumulative and program GPA's are. As for me, I will have 30 of 30 credits completed and a cumulative GPA of 3.9, with a program GPA of 4.0.

I finally sorted out my bookline of credit and went in to get my books. Unfortunately, they do not have the fundamentals textbook anymore?? They said the publisher did not give them a date of when they would have them. They told me that I had to go on amazon and buy it. I have to wait until we get our refunds from financial aid to purchase that one. I was hoping that one lady who spoke at orientation who said that she may have books or laptops to use if needed will have a spare fundamentals book I can use until I buy my own. I just forgot who she was.

Also, I was thinking about taking Spanish classes throughout nursing school. Do you think that would be a bad idea? I think I would just do it online, but I am not sure.

I dont know about you guys but todays session's made me feel soooo much better about how everything is going to go during this program! Good luck to everyone!! :)

I missed it! What did you discuss?

For day students: it says 8am-11am and then 1pm-3pm on Mondays and Thursdays on my schedule. Do we have to be there at 8 for class or is it 7am? Basically what time are y'all showing up to campus, and what time does class start?

I'm doing evenings but I believe for days you have to be there at 7am. But I would always go at least an hour to a half hour early on the first day.

My schedule in MySPC says Monday 1p-3p, TuWe 7a-3p and Thursday 8a-11a. If you're referring to the Thursday class I think we are supposed to be there at 8, but in the Nursing Commons on MyCourses a bulletin was posted on August 3rd that says "When coming to on campus clinical class meetings remember that day students report at 7 a.m. and evening students report at 3 p.m." Those on campus clinical days would be Tuesday and Wednesday so those days we definitely need to show up at 7. On Monday the 13th we do not need to be there until 1pm, I'll probably show up about half an hour early to make sure I can find the classroom hahaha. I'm going to double check with my instructor on Monday but I do believe the class times on our schedules are accurate.

Uh oh! I was just at the bookstore earlier today and they didn't say anything like that to me when I was talking with them about my online order which includes the Fundamentals book. I think I'm going to cancel that part of my order and just get it on Amazon. They're in stock and actually $1 cheaper than the bookstore  have you got the Elsevier package yet? Honestly after picking that up today I don't think I'm going to bring every single one to class the first day. It's so heavy and along with the Fundamentals and Davis books it's literally going to break anything I put them in lol.

Yes I did mean that! I need to go back and reword that haha 😂 . So class is only 3 hours? On Mondays and Thursdays? I would think it would be all day that's why I was confused! Thank you and I assume Friday when the course opens on Mycourses there will be more information.

Oh yeah, 7am was for clinical days not the first day. Sorry about that!

I had to order the Davis bundle online through the bookstore because they were also out of that one. I saw the fundamentals through the online book store but she said they had no idea when they would be getting it in and something about the publisher. So, yeah, I'm just gonna get it on Amazon.

They were out of my size gloves (the box ones that are non sterile) . Does anyone that has them know what brand they are so I can buy the same kind somewhere else ?
