SPC Nursing Fall 2018

Published

Hey Everyone!

Thought I would be the first person to start a SPC Nursing Fall 2018 thread. Even though we still have one semester left before applying, I thought I would start a thread to get the ball rolling and to see where everyone stands. If are applying for the program in Fall of 2018, please let us know the amount of credits you will have at the time of applying and what your cumulative and program GPA's are. As for me, I will have 30 of 30 credits completed and a cumulative GPA of 3.9, with a program GPA of 4.0.

I would say because they're willing to accept immunizations that could be decades old, they would probably accept titers from a couple years ago. You could always upload them to Castlebranch and see what response you get. Or you could give Kathy Boylson a call tomorrow, she's the one who told me to call her for any immunization questions I had. Her office number is 727-341-3633 and her email is [email protected] :)

Thank you so much for your advice. I will call or email Kathy tomorrow. I do remember she is the contact person for immunization issues. Thanks again!!!

By "watch" do you all mean a regular watch or a smart/digital watch? Does anyone know what's allowed?

I found out from a previous nursing student:

- definitely get a watch, preferably not a digital one

- Bring all books and skills kit on first day, a rolling cart is recommended

What shoes are everyone getting? Clogs or athletic? I know the requirements, I am just curious what you all are deciding on.

I got the Littman classic III stethoscope. Hopefully it doesn't get lost / stolen but it was on sale for around 89 dollars on amazon the price depends on color and finish. I also got the white coat brand bp cuff/ penlight combo for $15 on amazon. Free shipping with prime

No problem! I hope those records will do so you don't have to get more blood work! After having blood drawn 3 times in the last month (twice for my doctor, once for school) I finally got a nasty looking bruise so hopefully no more blood draws for a while lol

I'm hoping to head to Skechers sometime this week to take a look. I've been browsing their website and the Go Walks and Flex Appeals look like the logo is small enough and blends well so they should fit dress code requirements. They also have pretty good reviews. I'm hopibg they'll have some on sale in store! :) I may check out some Nike as well.

I've been watching this thread for awhile. Unsure if whether I should post since I was 45 on the waitlist. I got the email today that I've been accepted!!! Now here is to doing everything on the checklist

Oh wow...congrats!! Did they already tell you what clinical site you have and if you got days or nights?

I don't know yet what kind of shoes that I am going to get. I am going to go this weekend and look around. I'm going to see what Scrubs and Stuff has and maybe try some on. I also got the Littmann stethoscope and the white coat BP cuff/penlight combo from Amazon. I read the reviews on it , after the fact, and some people say that its crap and some people say that it works good. I guess we will have to wait and see!

Oh my god I got in! I had already decided not to just start in January for many reasons, but HELL YEAH!! I'm still excited that I made it!

That is awesome!! Congrats!! Did they tell you which clinical site that you would be getting and if its days or nights?

Is anyone on this forum days at Morton Plant Rehab?

Update: the Rose pink stands out WAY too much. It's more like hot pink :D . Going to return for a different color. Is anyone getting theirs engraved?

I just got plain ole boring black. I don't think that I am going to get it engraved. I do want to find a way to mark it somehow, in case it gets stolen.

there were only three choices for days left and two for evenings. I chose not to proceed and have applied for the program starting in January
