Need some info on the Evening/Weekend program at Southwest Tennessee Community College.

How long is the program?

Can you transfer into the program?

Any info would be helpful.

Thanks.:idea::idea::idea::idea:

I just got my acceptance phone call from Southwest's nursing department today! I got in for the Spring 2011 term.... kinda freaking out right now!!! I have no clue what I need to be doing to prepare myself. Hopefully they'll give out a bunch of information at this meeting thats coming up.

What were ya'lls index scores? I'm going nuts trying to gauge my opportunity/chances for acceptance into the Fall 2011 semester (which from what I've seen on here, is not as competitive as the Spring program?)

Congrats on your acceptance(s):yeah:!

Thanks! I had A's in A&P 1 and 2 and a B in micro. I had a 130 on the entrance exam. I was worried about my B in micro but I got accepted even with it. Best of luck to you....waiting to get that phone call almost drove me insane! Hope my info helps you, though each set of applicants is different every term. It really just depends on what grades the other people applying with you have. Good luck!:lol2:

You will do fine smarty pants! And you better not read any books over the holidays-cause I need 'em!lol

Anybody got any any sage advice about AD1? I know it's really tough and from what I've read, not too many people pass it. Did I read that correctly - 5 out of 25 passed? Ok, those are scary odds! I would sure love some advice!

That's not right. In the first half there were 45 students, some were repeaters. I'd say about 8 failed ADH1 b/c there are about 32 in the OB class now.

Stace75 is right, get the best cushion you can on the regular tests b/c the final is brutal. I mean absolutely brutal! I had an A in the class and failed the final before she threw out questions and adjusted grades. I ended up with a low B on the final, the lowest grade I've ever made at Southwest. When I was done with the final I sat there in absolute shock when my grade popped up. I couldn't believe my eyes.

Girlshunt2- Thank you! I had A's in A&P 1 and 2 and an A in Micro. 4.0 GPA and my NLN was 133. Getting that phone call makes all the hard work worth while! Good luck!!

Thanks for the feedback on AH1. Sounds like a really tough class. Is the Med Surg book from Foundations the only book you will need?

Ok, vets.... anyone with advice on fall program... or the following situation... Going bananas. I finished up my pre-reqs this semester with an A in APII, B in Micro. Have a B in API (took over summer), GPA right now is 3.2. Taking the NLN Thursday. (so my current index is 43.2- then if I figure in at least the min 100 on the NLN, my index at application in Feb will be a be 53.2) Do I have any chance at being accepted with the 2 B's or should I go ahead and register for spring to re-take API and Micro & try to get A's ? Hopefully, I'll be following the many of you who are starting in Jan (Congrats btw) but since I won't find out until half-way through the spring semester if I'm accepted (with the 2 B's)for fall, I'm worrying that I should be preparing plan-B. Making myself BONKERS!!! Figured, who better to ask than those who just went through the acceptance procedures... THANK YOU!! Any insight will be greatly appreciated!

Shoot, I would apply if I were you. Your scores are good but it depends on the other applicants scores as well. Take the NLN and then go from there because you could blow that exam out the water which could boost your overall score. Good Luck.

If I were you, I would apply for the fall anyway. SWCC accepts more nursing students in the fall than in the spring so it's slightly less competive in the fall and that will help your chances. And who knows, you will probably kill the NLN and it will just be a matter of what is more convenient for you; days or nights and weekends? Good luck!

As I've stated in other posts, I really don't think it's THAT competitive. I know plenty of people that made it in with similar grades as you, not to mention lower ones. Don't stress about the NLN so much, it's not like taking the USMLE lol. Getting a 120 or higher should be no problem. I wouldln't even worry about just making a 100 on it. I bought the study guide, took two quick practice tests from the cd, then never looked at it again and scored a 150ish. I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, so take that for whatever it's worth. In conclusion, I would not retake those courses and I would apply for the fall semester the day after you get your scores back from the NLN.

Thanks, everyone, for taking time to reply...! I took my NLN Thursday- a little freaked out right now-I ran out of time on every section and ended up just having to bubble in the last 4 or 5 on each! I feel pretty good about correct answers otherwise (hope I didn't bomb it). It wasn't difficult, but being timed screwed me up- I want this so bad, I ended up over analyzing everything worrying about being perfect. I hope the holiday doesn't delay my score results!

I called the nursing department Friday and asked about the index scores of the spring 2011 (you guys) class. The lady I spoke with said she didn't have the paperwork in front of her, but she did know that everyone accepted had ALL A'S!!!! :uhoh21:A little nerve rattling, but she also added that this was the most competitive class they have ever had. Sooooo... you guys should be very proud of yourselves:yeah:! That's awesome to know you were at the tip top of the pool! Let's just hope fall really is a little less competitve.

I'm going to go ahead and apply for fall. I can always retake the two B's over the summer if I am denied. All I have left to do is my essay. Any tips/pointers? Thanks so much for your input! I've been working on this for 3 semesters & haven't had an advisor (they finally assigned me one yesterday-but she's not in the nursing department-is that a problem?) so you guys have been the only & best guidance I've had! THANK YOU!!!!!

Hi, everyone I am new to this thread. I'm currently LPN applying for the southwest community college fast track program and need some answer please. Do anyone know how hard is it to get in the fast track program? Really stressing right now.
