Need some info on the Evening/Weekend program at Southwest Tennessee Community College.

How long is the program?

Can you transfer into the program?

Any info would be helpful.

Thanks.:idea::idea::idea::idea:

Well, my friend is at SWCC and she had wished that she would have spaced her classes out more. All of hers are M-W and it is too demanding on her. At first she thought she got a good schedule but turns out that the other students that have their classes spaced are at a better advantage.

At least you get to choose your schedule, ours is assigned to us and we have no say in the matter. So space your schedule out.

You don't pick your schedule at SW except clinical days. All of the classes are Tues/Thurs. I would pick a Friday clinical. You don't want to get stuck having to go to clinical all Wednesday then have a test on Thursday. Clinicals in 2 and 3rd semester are 12 hours.

I just got my acceptance phone call from Southwest's nursing department today! I got in for the Spring 2011 term.... kinda freaking out right now!!! I have no clue what I need to be doing to prepare myself. Hopefully they'll give out a bunch of information at this meeting thats coming up.

I got mine as well but declined. I have a friend in the program now, just prepare yourself! It will be all you will do 24/7! Good Luck!

Congratulations! :yeah:I got my call today too!! This was a big weight off of my shoulders!! I am so excited!

Yes, I said the same thing......"I wish someone would have prepared me!" I am just about through with the first semester. I don't know if anyone really CAN prepare you! Just be prepared for your life to change! Be ready to live and breathe nursing school. Congratulations to all of you who got accepted!

I thnk what she meant to say was not to take a professor whose name rhymes with Rake for Micro and take a professor of middle eastern origin for AP whose name I can't make a rhyme to at this moment.

There's no preparation! Just preparation H for the strain that nursing school puts on you!

LMAO!!!:yeah:

Anybody got any any sage advice about AD1? I know it's really tough and from what I've read, not too many people pass it. Did I read that correctly - 5 out of 25 passed? Ok, those are scary odds! I would sure love some advice!

5 out of 25? That sounds awfully low! I did not think AD1 was that bad. I got 90s on test 1 and 3 and a 70-something on test 2 but also had a death in the family. The final was brutal, but I passed it. I do know that after our class got through, the teacher made it super hard!! My advice is to read the book. Know it inside and out, make the best scores you can on the regular exams so that you have room to not do as well on the final. She had questions on the final that we did not go over in class. The good news is that we have lost very few people after AD1. If you can get through that class, you are pretty good!

Thanks stace75! That sounds a little better. Read what book inside and out? If I knew what book, I'd start reading it over the holidays!

Thanks again!
