South University FNP MSN program???

So did anyone or is anyone currently in the FNP or Adult NP online program at this time? I spoke to an admissions rep and was really impressed. The set up is nice with one course at a time, although was told you can talk to your advisor and sometimes layer your courses here and there as well (like an 11wk course with one 5.5 wk course) which I'd prefer to do to get done faster...since I did my ASN at Excelsior and am finishing my BSN I'm well used to online format courses and have my time down to a science. I was planning on beginning my application process now, so that in December we submit everything with the potential to start the first week of Feb 2014...anyone else??? Any thoughts???

Can someone please email me about the facebook group for Us Family NP people?

I would love to receive the link to the Facebook page as well. I start in September.

Thanks!

Melissa

Hello,

I am also currently in the online South University FNP program and will graduate 11/28/15. I have found that I do most of the work to get myself through the program, especially when it comes to finding clinical sites. I have not found them helpful at all and they have actually proven to be a hinderance to me once or twice (the assistant clinical coordinators at SU). Several times, I would have the facility that agreed to precept me send over paperwork, only to be told it was not received. This happened multiple times and there was no recourse. Eventually, I had to move my complaints up the ladder and then magically the paperwork was located and approved (on two seperate occasions for two seperate clinical sites). Finding my own sites and setting them all up is stressful enough on its own! I do feel that there is a decent education to be had, as long as you are okay with teaching yourself. Honestly, this works best for me since I like to do things on my own time.

Also, just as a huge heads up to everyone considering them, THEIR ACCREDITATION STATUS IS ON PROBATION, TO BE REASSESSED IN DECEMBER OF THIS YEAR! I graduate two days before that, but I just wanted everyone to know where they (South) currently stand.

Hello,

Also, just as a huge heads up to everyone considering them, THEIR ACCREDITATION STATUS IS ON PROBATION, TO BE REASSESSED IN DECEMBER OF THIS YEAR! I graduate two days before that, but I just wanted everyone to know where they (South) currently stand.

Uh...not so sure about this. According the CCNE, South University is accredited through 2020: http://directory.ccnecommunity.org/reports/rptAccreditedPrograms_New.asp?sort=institution&sProgramType=2 (scroll down to the school...alphabetical).

You're absolutely correct, lhflanurseNP!!! I did check with them just to make sure there was nothing going on... CCNE does NOT show South University as being on probation (or having ever been).

For potential students/applicants: Please do not let your dreams and career paths be sidetracked by gossip and malicious, misleading statements. Do NOT take anybody's word for it, do your own research and act accordingly. One person's vendetta should not affect your professional aspirations.

Can someone tell me how much the program costs all together? I cannot for the live of me find how much the program is on their website. Also any recent reviews and board pass rates would be great. Thank you!

Rayjordan, here is a link on the board pass rates: https://content.edmc.edu/assets/documents/su/licensure-results.pdf

I finished up with my ANP in December 2014 and cost was just under $24K. It may be a smidgen more as the rate had gone up in my last term.

Thanks for sharing the document with the pass rates lhflanurseNP! It contains very recent and up-to-date information that I had no previous access to.

Also, you're right! The tuition went up after you graduated and it currently stands at $481/credit, which makes my program (FNP) around 33K in total.
