Solano Community College Fall 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi future nurses!

I just got my acceptance email today at Solano! I think we should all communicate through here for questions and what not. I tried to look at previous forums, but they did not have info about when clinicals and lectures are. I want to find out this info before accepting the position in case I get accepted from another program that is better for me. Especially since I live 2 hours away.

Thanks!

Hi everyone! For those who received an acceptance email and confirmed it with Janet, I would like to get to know one another. Also, I am excited to meet everyone who will be at the orientation in April! Does anyone know the correct time it starts? In the first set of emails it stated it starts at 9am but in the second corrected email it said it would start at 10.

I received an email back and I just thought I would share with everyone that the mandatory meeting will be from 10am-2:30pm. Also, I was advised to arrive early for check-in. ?

FYI, if you're given the guaranteed spot for being rejected, you'll need to email Janet Schwartz to advise you want the spot. She'll reply back acknowledging and accepting your intention. I did this. She did say there will another email later to confirm, and others for various other information.

As for your orientation, if it is anything like the other nursing program orientations I've attended, expect half a day. I expect they're going to go over program requirements, curriculum, books, financial aid, uniforms/dress codes, signing up for classes, clinical location(s), and so forth. You'll be bombarded with lots of information.

Hi, I got accepted too and I live in the Sacramento area. Orientation is by 10am. I have been looking for students currently in the program to know what school days are because I intend to work a couple of days during the week. Do you have any information on that? You can send me an email at [email protected]

You may want to inquire with Janet Schwartz

Congrats to all who made it in!

Anyone else anticipating the orientation being cancelled next month?

I would say that is probably a very likely situation. They'll reschedule it for a later time

Does anyone know someone in the graduating class of 2020? I'm wondering how their clinical hours are being affected... This is such a scary situation for so many people. Hope everyone is able to stay healthy and graduate on time!

I would try emailing Janet Schwartz (Health Sciences administrator)

I’m anxiously awaiting the email regarding our rescheduled orientation. Still feeling very lucky to have a spot in the program. However, such late notice will be an obstacle with work and I’m pretty bummed about having already burned a vacation day for the original orientation date. My work schedule is also locked in for next month so I’m hoping the new date falls on an off-day or that I can convince a coworker to switch shifts with me. I also worry a lot about the nursing program being interrupted if progress isn’t made soon. I don’t mean to sound insensitive because I know there are much bigger problems people are facing due to this. I’m just anxious because getting back to school for nursing means the absolute world to me. I hope we can get through this quickly so we can get back to normal life. Wishing you all good health; Stay safe and reach out to others if you ever feel isolated or scared. ❤️ We’re all in this together.

Hi, I hope everyone is doing well with everything that has been going on lately. I was just wondering if someone has recently emailed Solano about when they may be letting students know about the orientation?

Thanks!?
