Hi future nurses!
I just got my acceptance email today at Solano! I think we should all communicate through here for questions and what not. I tried to look at previous forums, but they did not have info about when clinicals and lectures are. I want to find out this info before accepting the position in case I get accepted from another program that is better for me. Especially since I live 2 hours away.
Thanks!
I got the email today as well. I was rejected and remain so. What a goofy situation. For me, I had already got accepted and committed to Johns Hopkins direct entry MSN program; I gave up my spot at CSUEB spring 2020 cohort for it.
The nice thing about it, they are guaranteeing spots because of it. Under normal circumstances, the guaranteed spot does not come until the fourth year of applying. I will probably accept it as a backup.
As for the situation, it does not sound like anyone's status changed, at least for those on this forum. I suspect it may have been because they did blind CC everyone on the decision emails.
Nonetheless, for those that got in, congratulations on being able to move forward with the next step to becoming an RN. It does not matter what level program you get into--ADN, BSN, direct entry MSN/NP/DNP--they are all very competitive to get into. Go out and celebrate this next step. For those who did not, keep your head up and trying. There is more than one way to become an RN.
That blows monkey chunks. Well, it does show that some people may have gotten incorrect offers and it was not based on the non-BBC email they initially sent out.
As for CindyTex, probably not much you can do. California has regulations that limit the teacher-student ratio, thus the spots they have available are filled. You could ask to be given a spot if they exhaust the waitlist. I don't know if SCC has ever had that situation, but I have heard other programs have had it occur. Beyond that, I suggest taking the offer of the guarantee offer for fall 2021; this usually is on the fourth of applying. In the meantime, I would continue to apply for other programs, especially those that start in the spring such as CSUEB, Sac-State, and so forth. You can try Napa Valley, but their program is a first-come, first-serve (for those who qualify), which I believe their application window opened in January. This assumes your grades, TEAS score(s), and recency will meet those program requirements. I applied to eight or nine programs for the fall. I only applied to two for the spring cohort that just started. I got into one of the spring (I gave this spot up), and one in the fall thus far; I got two rejections, and one removed the applicant pool for committing to another program (it was the fall term for the school I gave up a spot at).
I would continue to take classes, such as the CNA; some programs, such as Napa, want applicants CNA certified when applying. You could so try the paramedic classes or medical terminology. If you're working, continue that too so you can save money for when you have in the nursing program; I highly doubt you'll be able to work full time.
Do not be dishearted by the situation if you can. You can get it in. The lottery system in which SCC uses kind of sucks, but before it, it was a three year waitlist. A lot of BSN use a point system based on grades, TEAS, and so forth, which means it is very competitive. Direct entry MSN/NP are more holistic in that they use essays, grades, letters of recommendation to see if you fit their vision, which means it is more subjective. No matter the program, it is hard to get in.

Hi! My status is alternate as well, congratulations! ? Did they tell you that you'd be guranteed a spot for next year if you don't get in this year? That is what I have been hearing but I don't want to believe it until someone from the school actually says it to me in person. Considering all of the technical errors.

Actually, you want it in writing from someone from the program like Janet Schwartz. If it is in writing, then they cannot deny they offered it and accepted it. In-person, it can be denied. An email should be sufficient.
The only issue, per se, they did not state exactly how you're supposed to indicate you want that future spot.

Yes, both the initial email as well as the 2nd round email state that by accepting the position I will be placed on a list to receive a spot next fall in the event that I dont get in this fall. Your email should state it.
