Social issues regarding RN to BSN?

Published

What are some social issues that you have faced when trying to advance your nursing degree?

Of if you haven't experienced it yourself, what do you think some possibilities are?

When I was completing my RN to BSN. I made many sacrifices. I had basically no social life. my children couldn't enroll in sports or afternoon programs because I wouldn't be able to transport them. I had to always study, research or write papers and create projects. My children are now ages 2, 7, and 9. I gave birth to my now two year old during a one-week break in-between classes. I had her on Wednesday and resumed classes on Monday. I was always sleep deprived. The hardest part was balancing family, work and school. I needed to advance beyond the bedside and by God's grace my BSN opened a door to just that. Education is expensive, but it isn't a waste.

I hate school but you gotta do what needs to be done.

Online classes are too expensive. I would do it if it could be done without having to chose between going into debt or working 2 full-time jobs plus studying. I say 2 full-time jobs because one would be to pay regular bills while the other would be to pay for the classes.

The class prices are the same usually online or in person. Mine was the cheapest around through University of Texas no clinical and I'm in Wisconsin cost right around 9k

Going to physical classes here would have been way over that and required clinical hours which while working I didn't want to do
