Did you guys get enough sleep while in NS. Also did you guys get to pick your schedule?

no and no, but I must say, the farther I get into the program the more sleep I get. Back in first semester I was a nervous nelly who would stay up til 2am stressing out over careplans I didn't know if I was doing correctly. My third semester ends tomorrow. I sleep almost as much now as I did before nursing school and my grades are fine if not better because I learned to chill out. But I also don't have kids or work so I have the time to sleep. YMMV

Still can't pick my schedule though. If I had it my way I'd be on all afternoons. Waking up at 5am is preposterous to me.

Do I get to pick my schedule? Yes!

Sleep? What is that?! Lol.

No and no. I forsee, both with be no.

I work, go to school and have a 4 year old. I function on four hours of sleep!

As far as schedule - only thing I got to choose was to do morning nursing class or evening classes. ( I chose evening) as far as times to be there and clinical

Hours I have no choice.

I got way more sleep in nursing school than I ever did while working as an inpatient nurse.

Sleep depends on what is going on like tests or HESI or both and then how far my clinical site is from me. Average is 5-6 hours on early days and maybe 4 on super early days. As far as picking my schedule goes... ya I wish. All the classes I have to take for the next 2 years are essentially assigned to me at this point since there is usually only one section. If I get a choice it is usually something trivial like would I rather have nursing class A at 8 am and Nursing class B at 10 or vice versa? I still would have to get up at the same time and I still have the same profs on the same day.

Adn programs are rough

My program is an accelerated 2nd degree BSN program. We don't get to choose anything. We aren't even allowed 1-2 days to make mutually agreeable trades for clinical or even lab times. (Friends in other accelerated and traditional programs are allowed to 1-2 days to make trades.)

We are allowed to pick lecture times, usually there are 2 choices sometimes there isn't but we are never allowed to switch clinicals and believe me I had such a bad clinical schedule last semester. I haven't had lab since last fall but we never could switch that either, they were super strict about that. I never heard of people being able to trade or switch, now you tell me that Im jealous too! BTW Im in a traditonal BSN program.

Would it help to know that it's a one-time, permanent switch for the entire lab or clinical assignment? (Yeah, me neither. I would love to be able to have a day to try to find someone who can switch clinical assignments so I only have to drive 45 minutes instead of 90. Or when I had lab, to be able to switch to a lab time that matched that of others in my carpool or study group. Ah well, teaching us to cope with inconvenient assignments, right?)

Sleep? What's sleep?! It was definitely a luxury during the first year of school.

During our first semester we were able to choose our clinical day and lecture times. Second semester we were able to choose our clinical day but there was only one lecture class.

I am starting an ADN program in Sept. We have a choice of Monday day or evenings for Nursing 100 and a lottery of clinical sites and times. We have to pick our 3 choices in order of what we prefer for clinicals and then it is chosen during the lottery in August.
