Aww thanks I wish the recruiters thought like you..lol

If you think your nursing program was a joke, that's probably why you can't get a job. Honestly, if I were a patient or employer, the last person I would want taking care of me or that I would want to hire is someone who a) thinks they know it all and b)has no respect for their own education.

Hi All,

I can certainly appreciate AND relate to your frustrations! Things are defiantly very TIGHT out there these days even for nurses WITH experience - let alone a new Grad!

It used to be that I would apply for a nursing position and in 1 week offered the position! Not anymore! Now I might send out 20+ resumes or online applications w/o a single word. Hospitals and facilities have tightened up their budgets making it very difficult to land a new position and/or change positions.

Earlier this year I was out of work 3 months and 1 month respectively while seeking new employment! And what seems to have complicated this process are facilities taking only ONLINE employment applications where they just seem to go into the land of 'Limbo' and either just sit there or what - we haven't been able to figure out yet! Hospitals post MANY available jobs - yet we apply online and NEVER hear back - ad we ARE experienced RN's with as much as 4 yrs of experience!

The best advice I can offer IS THIS - persistence! Just KEEP applying and applying, follow-up with calls or visits to their HR Dept. and keep at it! I found that many times this pays off in the end - but it is not a 2 wk process any longer by ANY means!

Good luck everyone! I know how hard you all have worked for these degrees! I did 9 semesters myself!

easiest way to get a job as a nurse in hospital setting is already be an employee. i started as a aide in 1991 decided to go to school to be an rn and 5 years later was the first one in my class to obtain a job even before i graduated. u dont have to be an aide u could be a secretary...ect. u wil have the understanding of the hospital setting and how the job is and alot of support from the nurses which will help u in ur education and feeling comfortable in clinicals and starting ur job.

I thought I was the only one getting annoyed by this ONLINE ONLY policy. Since when is it a bad thing to bring in your resume in person?

If only it were that easy....

believe me, i work with some of those b students..one actually told me that the only reason why 3/4 of his graduating class went into nursing is because they heard that nursing was a job, where you can't get laid off.

hahaha this made me laugh.

I love this post, lifted my spirits, thanks so much!

Seems like you have to know somebody in order to just get a toe in the door. Thank god I only took out a loan for the last half of my final semester in nursing school.
