My school requires us to buy skill lab kit. I am just wondering if anyone else has to buy this and what is included in it ?

It's probably going to be different everywhere. At my school, we have to get a "lab kit" that consists of things we'll use in lab: catheter kits, IV kits, bandages, saline, etc.
But, I've seen other schools require "lab kits" that consist of a stethoscope and BP cuff. So, its hard to say.

My school only requires us to buy our stethoscope, hemostat, bandage scissors, reflex hammer, pen light & a BP cuff is optional. I wish we could get that other stuff so that I could play with it a lil bit (he he) but I believe the rest is provided for us in lab. I think its taken care of out of our seat reservation fee that was required after our initial acceptance into the program.
We have to buy this bag full of stuff yet the lab is full of the same stuff. I haven't used anything out of my bag yet because I've yet to remember to take it to school with me!
thank you everyone for the replies. it’s mandatory to have for clinical lab. i also have to buy the stethoscope, watch with second had and bp cuff is optional only for home practice. it would be helpful if i knew what the package contains. i guess i will find out at orientation :)
p.s: did anyone had to pay for course outline or couse syllabi?

if you need it for clinical lab, it is probably like ours with things like cath kits, iv kits, etc.
heck no we haven't paid for that stuff. i would be outraged if we did. i know a lot of schools are doing that now but mine hasn't so far. i do know that a few years ago it was suggested at a board meeting to make us buy packets of all paperwork at the bookstore but it was vetoed. thankfully. god knows we pay enough in tuition that we shouldn't have to pay more for the paperwork.

Same for my program. Ours was pretty expensive as well. But according to previous students, it was needed.
OP, I've never heard of paying for a course outline and syllabi.
i have to pay $34.50 for just the course syllabi. so far only one instructor has emailed it and i am hoping other will to. i still have to buy the uniform and shoes. nursing school is so expensive

We had to buy our course syllabi each term. They added up. Back in those days there was no such thing as putting that stuff online.
Wow, that sucks. At my school, they give us one copy. After that, we can print it off the website ourselves.

We buy a "Nursing Bag" for $99 when we start 1st semester. Included all the kits we use for clinical lab before we get to our hospital setting. Basically it is stuff to use on our mannequins. Trying to recall everything, here goes:
Foley Cath kit
Irrigation Kit (70 cc syringe + tray)
Central Line dressing set
Bandaging kit
Organizer w/ penlight, scissors, hemostat forcep things
Naso-Tracheal Suction setup
NG tube kit
Enema kit
IV setups tubes bags
More in there, I just can't recall it all and I am on vacation so am not looking at it. Comes in a nice black duffle bag. SYllabus per course we also pay for, so far have run anywhere from like 12- 25 bucks per.
