SJVC Visalia LVN to RN Program

Published

Hi all,

Just thought I would start a thread to see who applied for the upcoming 2018 cohort. I also wanted to check in and see how your experience has been so far through the application process. As for me, so far, I think I'm doing really well! I scored a level 2 on the RN fundamentals exam, had a great interview, and now I'm locked in with my finances. Just waiting for the phone call from SJVC to tell me if I've been accepted or not.

I believe there are only 24 seats for the bridge program and over 100 applicants. It's more competitive than I thought, especially because it's a private college.

We're supposed to hear by October 15th. Good luck to everyone!! :)

Same with me too. I've called and message Mitzi and no reply. They can at least let us know if we didn't get in. Smh.

I do believe they give 24 hours to those who are accepted, AND if they don't hear anything back, they start calling down on the list. I didn't get my call last year until the end of October sooo fingers crossed for all of you! There's still hope.

Also, from what I was told, regardless if you are accepted or not, they do email you.

Congrats, I also got a call and was accepted. See you in orientation.

Hi! Not sure how many points I received (can't remember), but according to one of my instructors whom I've grown very fond of, and who was also a part of my panel interview, I received the highest points possible. I received the full points for the interview, full points for the essay portion, full points for GPA, and I received a level 3 on the fundamentals exam.

Please note that just because you score low on the entrance exam, it doesn't determine your spot. One of our classmates actually got a Level 1 on the funds exam, but still made it because her interviewer really liked her. I think the interview portion is where it really counts. The instructors have even said themselves that if they REALLY like you, they will fight for you.

Good luck!

Hello, Thank you for this comment I feel a sense of relief, I scored level 2 and was wondering what the threshold is for the fundamentals exam, I could not find anywhere showing a specific number. Praying I can get in, I have a pretty good GPA, how does the point system work for gap how many points do you get for spa 3.6 and higher?

Hi!

Forget all these schools that require entrance exams.  Check out the International College of Health Science.  This school is based in Florida.  It is a hybrid/online learning base.  $35k, you can get your RN license and have it endorsed in California or whatever state you live in.  No waiting list, no waiting to see if you got accepted, no lottery, no interview, no being put on the back burner till someone drops out.  And ICHS is 15 months, and you're done!  Don't waste your money trying to be an RN in California, just do your research about this LVN to RN bridge program, and make your decision.  My friend told me about this program because I was stressing out over the stupid TEAS test, and possibly being put on a waiting list if I don't get into SJVC LVN to RN bridge.  She is in the program and is doing good.  Due to COVID, she is not expected to travel to Florida for clinical.  She just gets her clinical signed off at her job, because she works with RN's already.  If there was no COVID, you would need to travel to Florida 2 times per semester for one week for clinical rotation.  This school is based in Boynton, Florida, and is fully accredited. Don't waste your time and money anywhere else! Get that RN license, and move on with your life.  I hate TEAS, I feel like its the school's way to make extra money off us!

I wish I had known about this sooner, like last year, I would have been an RN by now.

I agree with LVN_flower. I live in California.  Got denied by SJVC and COS. I went out of state and completed an lvn2rn program that cost me 18k that includes my travel and hotel expenses. I did lots of back and forth travel for clinical (the school worked with my schedule to combine my days) but as long as you have all main pre req’s for California then you’re good, apply for license by exam in California as I did. I completed my program this July 2020. I just passed my NCLEX and am officially an RN in California. If I had waited I’d not be an RN!

Also I forgot to add how simple the process was.  Called on a Monday to the out of state school and by Wednesday I was accepted into there program. NO TEAS EXAM. Took a RN Fundamentals. Which is what an lvn to RN program should require.
I had first class instructors that actually responded to my phone calls, emails, texts messages. No big city school that didn’t have time for me. I’m not a straight A student. I have a C in math and my TEAS exam wasn’t above 70% that’s where I’m losing my points for a bridge program in California. However I received best scores in my exit exams and walked out taking the NCLEX with 60 questions.
