SJSU Spring 2018

Published

Hey guys, I have not yet seen a thread for the SJSU Spring 2018 Nursing Program... so I decided to make one! I know it's a little early to start posting, but I am too excited and wanted to meet others that are applying! Here is a thread for all questions/concerns/comments! Hope to see and meet you all!!

You should check out hatha yoga, it's really early in the morning, but it doesn't require much physical movement compared to bowling or ice skating. What's your schedule for nursing?

I found this class COMM 80 which is 1 unit class. It seems very easy and all you need to do is attend the orientation and go to 3 workshops (or do 3 modules online) and write about them (basically 3 writing assignments with 300+ words) for the whole semester.

I just wanted to make sure that I have the CHAD 70 and Psych 1 requirements fulfilled. I took Psych 92 Developmental Psychology at EVC and according to artic.sjsu.edu the classes articulate. I also took Psych 1 General Psycology and I beleive it articulates to Psych 1 at SJSU. I just wanted to confirm that I am cleared for those co-requisites? I already emailed Dr. M but I wanted to see what you guys think lol

Hi! I asked an sjsu advisor about these before and she said those classes at EVC are good for the corequisites

Thanks for letting me know! I just checked it out and it's not too bad. I signed up for hatha yoga, but I think I might drop it and add COMM 80, it's more flexible and easy.

So I looked at the Student Health Center site, and it seems it has all the stuff we need to do! Quantiferon tests, labs, titers, immunizations, physical. I bet if we say we are nursing students they'll know all we need to do. I'll probably just go there and get everything done, what about you guys?

I was planning on going to my PCP after 12/10, because I think it'll be more expensive at the Student Health Center. Lmk how it goes though!

Me too! I heard it's cheaper at the health center

Does anyone know where do we register for the CPR class?

You can check out American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

All of my stuff was cheaper through my insurance and primary care physician but it may be different for others! Def look into it! :)

Don't get your CPR certification done too early. You don't want it to expire during the school year. Wait until late December/early Janurary.

Oops, I just signed up for a class on December 1st at Heartshare. Should I cancel... It says that the card will last for 2 years

Definitely cancel. And even though the card is good for 2 years, the nursing program requires you to redo it every year. Lame, I know.

Super lame. Also, im kinda confused about the vaccinations... My parents have no idea where my vaccination records are and I haven't had a booster for anything since I don't know when. So I'm going to have to get boosters, the hep series, and the titers all at once?
