SJSU Fall 2014

Hi there! I started this topic since I couldn't find any threads for SJSU fall 2014 applicants. Care to share your GPA, TEAS scores, and impaction scores to get a better idea of the competition this season?

My stats are:

GPA (for 5 prerequisites): 3.95

TEAS: 90.7%

Impaction: 7.89

Hopefully, we'll all get in. The cutoff score for spring was 7.19, so we should be fine :/

Hi everyone,

I am new to allnurses. I am a sjsu fall 2014 nursing applicant also, I was wondering, is the determinant factor of whether one will be accepted based solely on the impaction score? If so, to calculate the impaction score, is it prerequisite gpa + teas score/23 ? Thanks!

Yup! Anatomy, physio, micro, stats, engl 1a GPA + teas score/23!

They only look at those two things.

Thanks for the swift response!!! I am in a nervous wreck right now because the my supplemental criteria gpa that includes chemistry, speech, and critical thinking, I got a C in chemistry which is the worst grade that I've ever received because I took too many classes at that time which dragged my supplemental criteria gpa to a 2.9!!!! >___

The only time they will look at your supplemental GPA is if you have a tie with somebody with the exact same Impaction score. Last semesters cut of was 7.19 or 7.20. So, impaction score hardly ever jumps super high within a semester. My prereq GPA is 3.76 and teas is 85.3. So, I have around 7.46. I'm worried, too! But hopefully the score won't jump that high. Are you a transfer student or do you go here already?

I honestly believe anybody above a 7.5 will get in for sure.

I'm seriously possibly overly worried about my supplemental criteria gpa. Reading the forums for SJSU 2013, the letters are sent out April 18ish. I would love to attend SJSU rather than Bakersfield. I am a transfer student from City College of San Francisco. Is this your first time applying to nursing school?

I've been at SJSU since my first year, so it's my first choice! I want a spot in the program really badly. I live only like 15 minutes from campus.

Don't worry about your supplemental score. Your Impaction score is in a comfy zone. You don't need to worry about it.

Also, the letters for Fall 2014 will be sent out at the very end of April. I called the office and that's what they said. They are aiming to have the letter mailed out by the 28th or 29th.
