SJSU FALL 2021 BSN

Hey Guy! I am creating this for those applying to SJSU Fall 2021 nursing program. I wanted to see what the applicant pool looks like! Here's my stats so far:

Big 5 GPA: 4.0

TEAS: 80%

Impaction score: 6.66

I don't feel so confident due to how competitive it's been :/

You have to submit all transcripts to nursingcas AND to SJSU (both!)

I asked SJSU last month and they replied this back to me. But I also sent my transcripts online to SJSU admissions just in case.

I’m still waiting on course substitution documents to be approved and ended up having to enroll in two classes this semester as a precaution (even though I’ve taken these classes before but from schools without an “articulation” between SJSU). I really don’t want to take these classes if SJSU is going to ultimately approve the substitutions. Has anyone had luck getting through to the coordinator regarding this? The last day I can withdraw for full refund is feb 7 and I’m worried I won’t hear back in time.

@Lone_purple Hi! I was wondering how did you find out we have to submit our official transcripts to SJSU Admissions? & is there a deadline?

Hey! Well, I know that the official transcripts have to be submitted to NursingCas for the application to be complete (they just need to be sent to nursingcas before the time of application). The transcripts need to be sent to SJSU as well, but the deadline on my SJSU account was reflecting that those aren't due till July (so basically you can wait until you know you are accepted).

Also, does anyone know if we have to submit the course descriptions along with the Course Substitution Form on NursingCas, or is that only for forms awaiting approval? My form already got approved btw

Judging by description in program materials on NursingCAS, only submit the course sub form if it’s been approved. If you’re still waiting approval, you must submit the form AND course descriptions.

May I ask how long ago you submitted yours and when you got approval? I submitted mine first week of December and I’m still waiting.

@Lone_purple okay gotcha! I emailed my form last Summer and they got back to me about a month later.

I was feeling more confident before reading all these comments! My big 8 GPA is 3.9, was 4.0 for big 5, wish they hadn't changed that... as well as removing credit for healthcare experience.. I've been a full time CMA for over two years so that would have been nice! Oh well. 

My TEAS score is 88.7 so my total impaction is 6.86. I can't afford to take the TEAS twice nor do I have the time... so I am hoping this will be competitive enough. I was overlooking a thread from last year and someone with essentially the same score as me got in, so I'm hopeful that this year will be similar. Fingers crossed!

Hey guys I was about to submit my nursing application when I noticed this. It says, "Courses count as the SJSU equivalent unit disbursement, regardless of where the course was taken. The applicant's scores are calculated as noted on student's transcripts." Does this mean that if I took a 5 unit Chemistry class it only counts as three units when calculating my GPA since SJSU only has a 3 unit Chemistry class. Kinda worried because this changes my impaction score and I can't find this information anywhere besides on the nursingcas application.
