SJSU FALL 2021 BSN

Published

Hey Guy! I am creating this for those applying to SJSU Fall 2021 nursing program. I wanted to see what the applicant pool looks like! Here's my stats so far:

Big 5 GPA: 4.0

TEAS: 80%

Impaction score: 6.66

I don't feel so confident due to how competitive it's been :/

Last time I attended the info session they mentioned how they might accept TEAS tests that weren't taken in person. Does anybody know their final decision? The area I live in is only doing proctored exams so I feel stuck ?

Theres an update on the website that says:

Effective 12/17/20, Fall 2021 Applicants are now allowed to take the TEAS exam online (virtually) where it is offered. This is in effect January 2021 through February 2021 and does not apply to those intending to later applicant pools.

My prereq GPA is 3.75 and my TEAS is 88.7. I would take the TEAS again but I've already taken it twice... Anyone else super nervous about getting accepted? I heard that its always super hard to get in for the fall...

Hello everyone,

I just recently took my first take of TEAS with two days of studying, definitely gonna retake though as I'm also applying to CSULA and CSULB,

Big 8 GPA: 4.0

Cumulative GPA: 4.0

TEAS: 86.7

Also, SJSU is really accepting virtual exam takes right? I took mine online and it is proctored even though I'm in my room.

"Hi Alex,

We permit applicants to take the TEAS exam twice and will accept the score that is higher. If you took your TEAS exam online on 12/26 it will be accepted as it occurred after 12/17 when we put this in effect. The website is stating that we will accept online TEAS exams effective 12/17 and that this exception is applicable to those that plan to apply during the January/February application cycle."

This was correspondence back from the nursing department to me. I took it online on dec 26th. So, valid and confirmed. Any test taken at any location, online or in person, after December 17th will be accepted. If you took the test online before December 17th 2020 it will not be accepted.

That kinda sucks for everyone that took the TEAS test before that date ?  I don't even get what difference taking it before that date makes but oh well. Thanks for that info.

Hello everyone,

Big 8 GPA: 3.81

TEAS: 92%

Might have a huge problem. I took the TEAS online in August 2020 and got a 92 since no places were open for in person. However, it looks like they aren't going to accept my TEAS score. So I am going to retake it on the 17th and pray I get a 92 or better. SJSU and CSULB are my dream options and I would hate to lose out on SJSU because of a stupid online test technicality.

that's a great score! do you mind sharing studying tips and what helped you? I'm taking mine soon and I'm freaking out.

I used the study book that you can buy on the ATI TEAS website. I felt that helped me a lot.  Since there is not as much prep for the TEAS online as the SAT, I used some SAT prep for the reading and writing sections from Khan Academy whenever I needed extra practice. And there is also this app called Pocket Prep, I think, that is really good for when you are doing nothing.

Hey guys!

I am also applying for Fall 2021. I took AP English so I didn't have to take the equivalent of English 1A - does anyone know how they calculate AP scores in the impaction score?

On the application form in NursingCAS it tells you to download and submit the nursing course substitution form with your application

Do you know if the score you got on the AP test will effect your GPA though? I got a 3 and I know some nursing schools count that as a C, which would bring my score/Big 8 GPA down.
