SJSU FALL 2021 BSN

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey Guy! I am creating this for those applying to SJSU Fall 2021 nursing program. I wanted to see what the applicant pool looks like! Here's my stats so far:

Big 5 GPA: 4.0

TEAS: 80%

Impaction score: 6.66

I don't feel so confident due to how competitive it's been :/

Do you know if the score you got on the AP test will effect your GPA though? I got a 3 and I know some nursing schools count that as a C, which would bring my score/Big 8 GPA down.

From what I have been told. They simply do not use that class when calculating GPA. So your Big 8 is now a Big 7 basically.

Ohhhh got it! Thank you!

Has anyone been able to start on the program application yet since it opened yesterday? It's not showing up for me in NursingCas under the "Add Programs" list.

that's a great score! do you mind sharing studying tips and what helped you? I'm taking mine soon and I'm freaking out.

Along with TEAS study books, I would highly recommend joining TEAS study groups on facebook. People upload tons of free resources, study files, and practice questions. Quizlet is another great resource for TEAS study material. I also found the practice TEAS exams from the ATI website to be very helpful.

Hey does anyone know for sure how the impaction score is being calculated. I know Big 8 GPA + (TEAS/30) is how they have done it before. But in the nursing informational slides, they state that they are making it so GPA is 2/3 and TEAS Scores are 1/3.

Can you link the slides? Thats not what the other literature on their website says. Seems odd that they would change it during the application cycle

That's from the Dec 2020 information session. On slide 36 it says how they are doing the impaction.

Yup! Added it last night. Did you figure it out?

Once you add the program on NursingCas it tells you how it’s calculated on the program information (near the bottom, I believe— sorry I’m on mobile)

Im sorry, this is a guess. But is it not that the TEAS score divided by 30 comprises a 1/3 ish portion of the scoring and then by virtue of that, GPA accounts for the remaining weight?

Judging by this information on the SJSU program information via nursingcas, it is divided by 30, not 1/3.

So, formula is Big 8 GPA + (TEAS/30) = impaction score

Yeah. Not disagreeing with you on that because they’ve been pretty clear on most written comms about the process otherwise. Just that their 2/3rds -1/3rd slide on the advising sheet doesnt make much sense and Im just spitballin
