Hello Everyone, I just commissioned into the Army Reserves Medical Corps as a nurse and wanted to order my uniforms ahead of time so that I am prepared but am having a hard time finding uniforms to fit. I order a uniform from the AAFES web site and ordered smalls but still they are to big. Has anyone had to order uniforms in female small sizes ? Any good web sites for ordering will be appreciated. No there is no base near by as I live in Charleston,West Virginia. So ordering online is my best option. Thanks

Hi there:

You could check out these web sites but perhaps you have already?

www.militaryclothing.com

www.afmo.com

www.belvoir.army.mil

Gee, you say the small doesn't fit you? I am trying to think of the smallest size I have seen...What about small/xtra short?

Well, good luck! And welcome to USARNC!!!

My uniforms are too big for me too so I get them tailored. I wear a 4 extra short in the shirt and 4 extra short in the pants. They can take in the shirts on the side but you are kinda SOL on the pants because they can't tailor those on the sides, they can only hem.

I have a few questions for you, if you don't mind. I am from Parkersbrug, and have been thinking about joining the Army Reserves. Where do you do your drill, what unit are you with? Did you do direct commission? Anything else you would like to add would be appreciated. Thanks

momofabmtcs, sorry about the late reply but with being a new grad the work hours are long and I work nights 3pm-7am or 7pm-7am. I commissioned july 30th as a 2nd LT in the Medical Corps. The Unit I am assigned to is out of beaver,wv which is down by beckley. It is a fairly new Medical Detatchment Unit. Right now I am waiting on my orders but have found out I have to process in Georgia. The process in Georgia will take about 4 days I believe but dont quote me on it this is new information I recieved from my recruiter just the other day. I will know more once my orders arrive. Sorry I dont have more information but as of yet my recruiter has not given me contact info.

Thank you all so much for the uniform info. Littlesiss004

Do you not have to do officer training first? or is that what you are doing in GA? I am so confused. I meet with the recruiter Wed this week, and will let you know how that goes. If you have not done OBC do you know when you will? I have heard that until you have done that, you wont be deployed, and only having 2 classes a year, it might be a while. Talk to you soon. Thanks

Hi Mom,

OBLC is offered 5 times a year, which helps. AD and Reserves all attend OBLC at FSH.

From what I have heard the uniforms are 2 sizes smaller than what you would buy in civilian clothing, which means I too will have a difficult time as I am a 3/4.

Hi,

I am not sure if Athena listed the "exchange catalog"--- they are venders of issue gear. I have found their sizes to be pretty accurate.

I am 5ft, 98lbs and the xshort, xshort (jackets) fit well. Pants--xsxs, with no need for alterations. I like the small(s) for a baggy fit on the trousers.

You will need to create a password. No shipping costs!! And you can return them to the px (I think) if your stuff doesn't fit......

I would also like to point out to OP and others that while reading an army nurse 's blog, she mentioned that she found a close to fitting complete set of all uniforms from a "military surplus" type establishment, and had them slightly altered. Total cost for the whole thing? Something like $100. I guess if you only wear some of them rarely, they wind up in pretty good shape. Just an idea, one that I would be looking into, regardless of my financial situation. I just can't toss it away!! :twocents:
