wondering how the program is going for anyone that is in it, thanks, applied tonight and just want to make sure I pick the right school.
I Am currently in the 1st cohort and this semester is almost complete! So far I am enjoying my Simmons experience. I am attending half time and work fulltime, I also have 2 Kids ages 10 & 2 so needless to say I Am very busy. It's doable though. The classes are great, I enjoy the fact that there are true class times with an instructor and classmates, as well as recorded classes. Don't be surprised that this is not a set your own pace school, you will be required to attend the live classes. Hope you all get into your programs of choice. I am very thankful to be attending Simmons. The staff are very helpful and their student support Staff can't be beat!
I was just accepted to Simmons for the March cohort! Were you required to take the biology class prior to admission and if so how was it?
I did not have to take the nursing biology bridge course so I have no info on that! Just wanted to say CONGRATS! totally happy for you! Welcome from another Nursing@Simmons March cohort student!!!
Congrats! Did you just find out this AM? When did you apply? I did back in November for Natch and still waiting to hear.
Hey dsRN...I'm telling you, you need to and ask him why it's been 11 wks for you when others have found out in 4-6 wks. There has GOT to be something going on with that! =( Hope you hear something soon, being stuck in Limbo like that really sucks!
Was curious about the sl stats course, How long do you think it would take to complete?
People are saying a month or two...I have to take it and haven't started it yet...totally procrastinating! LOL...was waiting for some to complete and give me the heads up before I start...you can use Saylor.org and view all the same videos for the stats class there...then once that is completed, pay for the SL stats course, adn take final exam and be done...it's a $99 monthly membership fee and $25 for the stats class...Universal Class is like $70 but people have been saying its really hard and one guy just paid $300 for a tutor to get through it...so i dunno!

Hey Tasha! I did email him this morning and it wasn't very helpful. I said:
Checking in, again. It's been a very long 12-ish weeks. I'm just wondering.. Is someone on vacation or did some of my credits needs further verification from previous schools? I'm just wondering what could potentially be taking so much longer than others I know who have stated they applied (at a later date than me for March cohort) and have already heard back.
Any feedback or explanation would really be appreciated.
replied this AM and said: We have actually have had a lot of closings due to snow and other weather related issues here at Simmons, the holidays also didn't help with decision turnaround time. Local applicants are viewed separately from other students due to a limited number of preceptors in the local area. I will reach out to faculty to get an update for you.
so it doesn't really explain it. Most of you applied same time I did and are from out of state.. I am 45 minutes from Boston. So I am hoping he does ask the faculty and get back to me. But I wit hold my breath..
Actually it DOES explain it better...you live very close to the schools, and if they do not have enough preceptors available they may take local students dependent on eligibility because they do not want to NOT have enough preceptors for your clinical time, whereas most of us live across the US they can readily find preceptors for us. If D says he will get an update then he will. He is really good about that. I'm thinking that there are soooo many students in that area, they don't want to set someone up for failure by not having sites for you to go to. =( That does suck but now i can see why they have "hung onto" your app for so long!

If you think about it, this makes a lot of sense. Simmons has to secure preceptors for their brick and mortar program first, and it is a very right preceptor market in the Boston metro area.
Stay hopeful, best of luck.

I'm going full time so I understand! I have three kids ( 5, 8 and 9), and a hubby, and fur-babies, and I have to work as well...gonna be a hard 18mo of school that's for sure, but I'll figure it out! In the end we are talking a doubled salary for me, and much better working conditions as well as a new role. It's what i've always wanted, so here goes nothing!!!
