Hello,

I am interested in applying to Simmons University and Regis University for the Direct entry FNP program for Fall of 2021. I hold a non-nursing degree and I am currently in a Masters in Global Health program. My GPA from undergrad was around 3.32. I was wondering if you all could give me some advice on how I can boost my application. What do they really look for in your application? What experiences and GPA did you all have that you think helped you get into the programs? I want to get an understanding about what the programs are looking for and would really appreciate any advice! Thank you.

I did not apply to Simmons but I did apply to MGH, BC, Regis, and Northeastern. I applied for PMHNP and Simmons does not offer a program for that. I would recommend that you apply to all the schools that are fit your location needs (eg. BC, UMASS, MGH, NE, Simmons, Regis); I always thought that its better to be picky when you have multiple acceptance letters. Casting a wider net will maximize your chances of getting in. All the programs in MA are great and you cannot go wrong. Most important aspects of a application will be something like:

- good GRE score (this is useful for programs to see that you will be able to pass the NCLEX)

- a personal statement that shows that you really know that you want to be an NP as opposed to a MD or PA

-clinical experience either through a job or volunteerism

- strong letters of recommendation

- a competitive GPA (most important how you do in pre reqs). My GPA was not through the roof but my pre req GPA was considerably higher.

each application will be unique to the individual but those were my impressions from the application process. I got into everywhere I applied and all the programs really emphasized “why NP

Best of luck!

I received an acceptance letter... but I live in California, so don't know much about Simmons. I would love to hear more opinions/advice/tips about the program if anyone has them!

Hi I also received an acceptance and from California as well!

Hi everyone moving from California starting the DE MSN in the Fall 2020. Still trying to figure out a place to live that would be walking distance from school. Did anyone do financial aid? Scholarships? A bit confused.

Hey everyone!

I was just accepted to the Simmons DE FNP program and was wondering, for those on this thread who decided to attend Simmons, what your experience has been so far. I was also accepted at MGH and Northeastern, but Simmons offered me a scholarship and would be considerably less than either of those options. I'm finding mixed reviews on graduatereports.com. Any input would be extremely helpful!

I got accepted to Simmons Direct Entry FNP program. Can anyone share their experience on the program?

Thanks
