Dec 13, 20196 yr Hey guys! Just thought we would keep each other updated on our application process! I recieved an email this morning saying my application is under review (i applied nov 15) and was wondering what everyone else has heard! Best of luck to everyone!
Dec 15, 20196 yr NursingCAS verified my app mid October but I have not heard anything from Simmons...hmm
Dec 22, 20196 yr What other programs did people apply to? I applied to Marquette and Simmons and was accepted to Marquette. I'd love to talk to people about why they applied to Simmons and if this is their first choice program!
Jan 2, 20206 yr I applied to regis college and have been accepted, but Simmons is my first choice. I really hope we hear back soon.

When did you find out from Regis? I applied late but I still haven't heard anything back from them. Brian Dixon, the admissions coordinator for the program, said they were going to resume the admissions process 1/6 when they all come back from holiday.

I have decided to put down the hefty deposit at regis, just in case if I don't get into Simmons.

Jan 11, 20206 yr Are you guys planning to not work, work part-time or full-time as RNs during the NP portion? I was reading last year's Simmons forum and one person mentioned that the NPs and hiring nurse leaders they talked to said they won't hire an FNP with no RN experience. I know typically (before direct-entry NP programs existed) NPs had at least a couple of years of RN experience before starting a program. What are your opinions about graduating simmons with only 1-2 years of RN experience? This is what's troubling me. Since Simmons has students do 760 NP clinical hours, does this really prepare us for the real world? But since simmons is specific to FNP, its 760 FNP clinical hours so maybe that helps? I've been watching videos and listening to current FNPs talk about their opinions about this and they say having the previous RN experience helped them through NP school, but when practicing as a new FNP it's still just as hard. I really want to hear your thoughts on this. The other program I was accepted to is just an accelerated MSN program where I would come out as just an RN and would have to go get experience and then apply to NP programs. Simmons was my top choice because I will be completely done with all schooling and they're contracted with amazing hospitals in Boston. It still is my top choice but if accepted, I really want to make sure it's the right choice because it's more than double$ my other program (obviously because it's NP too but still that's one big loan to take out all at once!)
