That is a tough transition for a nurse to make, but it's still a caring role. But the most successful leaders I have known have embraced this attitude in their actions. Sometimes it is hard for staff to understand why the seemingly idle extra pair of hands is not engaged in patient care, but that should not be a manager's focus. And when the manager tries to flip between bedside care and staff care, neither recipient is truly getting what they need from the manager.
Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk! ?
