Hey guys! I didn't see a thread for applicants for Sam Houston State University BSN Fall 2019, so I decided to make one. I am in the process of making my NursingCAS application.
My Stats:
Teas Overall: 86%
Overall GPA: 3.5
Pre-Nursing GPA (according to GPA calculator on shsu website) : 3.5
I do have credits from SHSU, and I also took MATH 1370. I am not a licensed CNA, although I did take the course.

Yikes well good luck to everyone! For those of us who might not make it (in this case I would like to assume the worst so it hurts less later lol) Do those of y'all with experience have recommendations on how we can get hands-on experience? I don't have a CNA license, but I want to make my resume better for next cycle.

~30% acceptance is pretty good. UTHealth is ~10% but that’s probably because everyone applies there. All of these programs are competitive, even the ADN route.
CNA will only help you if you have at least 6 months of experience to back it up. Best thing to do is raise your GPA if possible and score the best you can on the reading and math portions of the TEAS.
Hello I also just applied to SHSU for the 2019 fall start date. My stats aren’t as good as some of you and if I get denied I will be retaking a couple of my B science classes to improve my GPA by turning them into As but I applied thinking it’s worth a shot
TEAS: 82 overall
Math:87.5
Reading: 89.4
overall GPA: 3.65
prerequisite GPA: I think 3.5 but I’m not sure if I’m supposed to be factoring in statistics (I am right now and that class was an A but it may be less if it’s just anatomy, micro and chem but definitely over the 3.0 no classes below a B)
Hello everyone! Anxious and excited now that we've entered the month of truth.
Stats:
Overall GPA: 3.9 -- Pre-Nursing GPA: 3.9
Overall Teas: 85.3% -- Reading: 80.9% -- Math: 100%
In some emails I've read that the applications aren't reviewed until June 4th, but the SHSU nursing FAQ website states that we should know our status within 45 days on the application deadline, which is June 14 (including weekends)... Either way, we're slowly getting there.
Good luck to everyone!
