 All my courses will be completed except : Comp I and Speech. I want to apply this September but some people say all my courses should be complete. The confusion I have is by the time they notify whether your accepted to nursing school, I will have completed all my courses. Should I apply in September, or wait until January? :uhoh3:

For the school that I applied for, they tell you that you don't have to be finished all prereq's to apply, but they don't accept anyone who isn't. Last semester I applied in September while finishing prereqs with a 4.0 and I got my rejection letter one week before classes ended. I applied again in Feb. and was accepted. If they allow you to transfer your app. to the next semester if you're rejected without paying and app. fee again, I would apply anyway. I got a heads-up on the whole process, including the interview and how long the whole process takes, the first time around. So the second time around I was totally prepared for the interview and I knew how long I would have to wait for a response. So if they let you, then I think you should apply ASAP. Besides you never know, sometimes there are exceptions. :)

Each school is different. My school required Comp I as a pre-req and Speech was considered a support course. My recommendation is that you get ALL your required support classes (Speech, Micro, A&P, Humanities/Fine Arts, Social Sciences, etc) out of the way before applying. That way, when you are accepted into school, you only have to worry about concentrating on/studying for your nursing classes. With the exception of Micro (took it over a summer between nursing semesters), I had completed all my support requirements before applying to school. I think it was the best thing I could have done.

All of my prereq's are not complete, but I was admitted into the program. I have registered for classes. I have to complete A&P 2, Chem 1, soc, and nutrition. The prereq's for the nursing courses require you to complete these courses before you can take the nursing classes. I don't know why the advisor let me register for nursing classes even though I haven't finished the prereq's. I plan to take these courses in the fall.

Granted the program I am applying to is an accelerated program but they said to go ahead and put your application in before doing prereqs so you will be sure you can get in before you spend all that money and time on prereqs.

At my school all pre-req's must be completed except Micro when you apply. They *say* you can be currently enrolled in A+P 2 but most people I know who were *currently enrolled* when they applied were rejected. Micro is really the only course they don't require to be completed...although you must complete it within your 1rst semester. Luckily, I will have it done.

At my school, you don't have to be completely finished, but you must be in the process of finishing. For example, I'm applying for Fall of '06. I will apply in January of '06 and I will be currently enrolled in A&PII, and Soc, and doing Computer Concepts in the summer. They say they will accept you before you're finished as long as you will be finished by the semester you're applying for. I hope this is true, because if I have to wait another year, I will go crazy! But I know a girl who got in when she was still in APII, so I guess they're serious. Hopefully this helps you!

IT DEPENDS ON THE SCHOOL. BUT WITH THE COMPETITION BEING SO INTENSE IT IS NOT ADVISABLE

Ask your school. If you apply in September, when will you be notified? Will you have a chance before they make final decisions, to submit an updated transcript and a letter stating that you have finished English Comp and Speech? That's what I would do if I were you.
