Shortage Time From UK-USA

World UK

Published

Thought I would start a new thread. I want to know what is the shortest time that any RN has taken to emigrate from UK to the USA? And there are a few of us on here who are starting off or who are on the long road and some nearing the end, and it would be nice to get an average length of time.

For the record most of you know I am going via an agency (cause I didnt find this web site til after I took nclex)

I joined the agency 1st August 2004.

I took my NCLEX 17th january 2005,

Visa screen approved end April 2005

Medical 29th October

Interview US embassy 16th November 2005

Arrived in US 1st Dec 2005

My papers were filed for visa screen and green card last day of January 2005.

It would also help others who are following in our footsteps :balloons:

They say 9-18 months

Oh dear, another agency making promises they KNOW they can't keep. As Suzanne says, it's not gonna happen. Sorry, not what you want to hear, I'm sure, but best you know now than being strung along :o

Hi

We are not in the least bit worried if it takes the 18 months.

My husaband has a business here in the UK and he says 18 months would give him time to wind things up.(not been very good for a few years anyway)

Hopfully it will be a hospital sponsership .

We have a house in Kissimme and know central Florida really well but are quite open and would continue to rent the villa and rent somewhere ourselves to start with (well that is the plan) away from the tourist and be part of a community

I have been doing a bit or reasearch of hospitls and the one with cath labs they all seem to have job openingsat the moment

Hi,

I gave in and phoned OGP- my funds were collected by US on the 31st May and they expect packet 3 to be requested by middle of july. :) I shouldstart to hear from allocations in about a month. They expect that my US interview will be by xmas.

I am going to Florida and it will be 3 years in September - so you wont get a Green Card in a year - definately not. A friend of mine has also been waiting about the same time too and she is now waiting for the Embassy interview.

Tina that is fab news that you had your ATT so quik. I'm not so lucky. I too applied independently in oct 2004. and am STILL waiting for my CES from CGFNS. It is near impossible to speak to anyone there, and I am going up the wall. Anyway, I too shall be working in florida (i hope), have the house, just need the documents! Can you give me any info as to where you sat the NCLEX, i know they are being held in london since january. Also, which are the 'good' review study books to buy - and did u have to study for months?

sorry for all the questions - any info would be wonderful.

many thanks - flick.

Hey Flick, whereabouts in Florida are you going??

Are you with an agency or have you been doing to on your own? 3 years seems like a long time.

The company I have just signed up with I-D Medical say they may be stopping the Nursing side of their agency. So I than have to go it alone or find another agency. Would realy love to get to Florida to be near our house in Kissimmme.

There was an ad in the Nursing Standard today for Cath lab nurses in Ozz perhaps it might be easier to get there and have a change.

Originally I statred out with an Agency but then went out on my own after the agency ceased to exist - to be honest I think it wouldve been just as long if I had gone on my own from the start...the agency I had was a small one but gave me loads of help in beginning.... I agree 3 years is a long time. The average from my research is about 2 and a bit years. I did have to resit the NCLEX once which did put me back about 3 months as when I sat it you had to wait 3 months before resitting it and then of course I had to go to florida to do it.

Hi just to butt in here! It has taken me 2 yrs, 10.5 months to get my visa- it still hasn't sunk in yet.....

The fact that my papers were "misplaced" by my attorney several times and the horrendously long processing time at Texas SC certainly try your patience.

Just to get an interview in Sydney is a 3 month wait- don't know what other consulates are like at present?

Good luck if you get thru in less than 18 months- I was promised 8 months in 2002... :)

OMG, i think im waiting too long, I am obviously under agency, passed Nclex in august 2003, English exam passed in october 03, Visa screen Certificate approved mid 2004, my papers are in the US embassy in London last Feb 04, i havent heard anything from them. I have heard of somethign from a friend that you are called to do medical first, before they schedule you for an interview, i talked to my agency and they said that 2 other filipinos were asked to have medical first and then they will recieve another letter for the interview date. So im not really sure, probably its the embassy thing. So I am still patiently waiting. And suzanne can i ask you something, i got my license with me and it will expire on august of this year, my agency said that it would not be a problem because they can renew it, but as far as i know, you can only renew license if you have CPE units, so im a bit worrying about this, any advice will be appreciated. thanks

If you are waiting that long, something is definitely fishy. I would sit down with someone from your agency and find out exactly what is going on. That the US Embassy has had your application for 16 months??? Something is quite off with that................do you know this for sure or is this what your agency is telling you? Do you know for a fact that they paid the fees, etc. Do you actually have your pd date?

Which state are you licensed in? I would definitely take care of renewing it, don't worry at this time about the credits, you haven't worked there yet.

Which agency are you with? I want to make sure that others do not use them.. You can send it to me in a pm if you do not want to post it here.

I was told that you will get a letter with a date for your interview and that you have to then arrange your medical for approx 2 weeks prior interview date. Would check again with your agency :o

Papers at an Embassy for 16 months and not being acted on sounds quite odd to me since there was nothing going on back then to delay anything.

Who even knows where they are............
