No. There may be a shortage of experienced nurses in some regions.

In some areas of the U.S., yes. But it's usually very rural cities. Where I live they can't keep RNs employed in the hospital, but no one wants to live here.

No there is not.
When I went to the ER for my son a couple weeks ago there was a 6 hour wait because there was only 1 doctor. The nurses were overwhelmed as well. I don't know how many nurses there were but I know there weren't enough.
If there is no nurse shortage, then why is the saying out there??
To get people into nursing schools.

Because there is evidence based research to support it from a decade or two ago. And they are still citing is as relevant evidence.
In others words educational institutions are using it to make a substantial amount of money off people that trust that everyone in the education business is honest.

As others have said, not everywhere. If you are thinking about becoming a nurse, look at the job market in your area. If you are willing to move to other areas, look at the job market in those areas as well. Some areas are saturated with nurses, so they have few jobs to offer those nurses. Good luck!

Yes there are. The baby boomer generation is expected to retire soon.
