hi,everyone here's some study tips to remember! example to remember antianxieties meds,think of smelling leaves not roses, normally we think smelling the roses as a way to relax. In thinking of anti anxities, Think of smelling the leaves as the way to relax...:smilecoffeecup:

L- librium

E- equanil

A-ativan

V-valium

E- equanil

S-serax

To remember how blood flows from the heart! think....

Arteries- Away ,arteries carries oxygenated blood away from the heart to the tissue.

veto-viens, carry blood to the heart.

S/S OF MI(myocardial infarction)- think of DANCE PAD....:Melody: :roll

D-dyspnea

A- anxiety

N-nausea/vomiting

C-crushing substernal chestpain

E-elevated temp.

P-pallor

A-arrythmias

D-diaporesis

FIRE SAFETY! PRC & RACE

P-protect pt.from injury

R-report the fire

C-contain the fire

R-rescue or remove the pt.

A-activate the fire alarm!

C-contain fire by dosing windows & doors

E- extinguisher flames

i have learned 12 cranial nerves from my nursing instructor a very kinda odd way lol. here's how he made us memorize it.

Oh-olfactory

Oh-optic

Oh=ocuomotor

to-trochlear

touch-trigeminal

and-abducens

feel a-facial

very- vestibulocochlear

good-glossopharyngeal

victory-vagus

sweet-spinal accessory

heaven-hypoglossal

lol anyways hope that makes sense.

We used On Old Olympus's Towering Tops A Finn And German Viewed Some Hopps (We called it Audiocochlear or Auditory--can't remember now!)

You could change it to Various Finns & Germans--or Vagrant Finns etc

We also used yours, but it wasn't so G rated toward the end!

Think PLATE to remember key blood components...

P-plasma

L-leukocytes

A- AB antigens

T-thrombocytes

E- erythrocytes

To remember the classic signs of diabetes think of the 3 P'S...

POLYDIPSIA- (excessive thirst) associate "dip" with dipping for water,as in using a dipper to get water.

POLYPHAGIA-( excessive hunger) associate "g" with gas in the stomach.

POLYURIA-( excessive urination) associate "uri' urination

> These are the key assessment finding of diabetes.

When dealing with" Deppressive " pt. think COMPARE!

C-consult with the staff

O-observe the suicidal pt.

M-maintain personal contact

P-provide a safe environment

A- assess for clues to suicide

R-remove dangerous objects

E-encourages expression of feelings

To assess the postpartum pt. think BUBBLE:beer: beer bubbles:p

B-breast

U-uterus

B-Bowels

B-bonding

L-lochia

E-episiotomy

i what to share this also for glaucoma...

C- close angle glaucoma

H- halo vision

O- open angle glaucoma

P- peripheral vision loss/ tunnel vision

H is symptom for Close angle and P is for Open angle

here's some tips to add!

To remember the clinical findings associated w/UTI think urinary tract is full of infection;

LOOK FOR;

F-frequent urge to void

U-urine that is foul smelling and cloudy

L-low grade fever

L-lethargy

When a child has a cyanotic heart defect,check for the

"4'C's"

C-cyanosis,especially increasing with crying

C-crabbiness or irritability

C-clubbing of digits

C-crouching or squating,which increase systemic venous return,shunt blood from extremeties to the head and trunk and decrease cyanosis

Okay guys found this great way of remembering the cranial nerves, courtesy of Sylvia Rayfield's :Nursing made incrediby easy" As you repeat those, do the motion and it will help you remember what each cranial nerve does:

3-4-6 Make your eyes do tricks (help move your eyes)

7 Accross your face (facial movements)

8 Fits nicely in your ears (help you hear)

9 -10 Under your chin (help with swallowing)

11 shrug your shoulders (help with back muscles)

12 stick out your tongue (that is just what is does)
