After four days of working, my feet kill. I am a new nurse looking for shoe advice. I know I want a sneaker and I heard New Balance are good..but I'm not sure what model. Any advice?

I love my Rockers by Cherokee--they are LIGHT and backless (Have a removable back strap) and very supportive.
I also own a pair of backless New Balance that are great.

The answer to the shoe question is really simple: You just gotta try them ALL! (just kidding, my DH is sure that's what I think.)
When shopping you need to think about footbeds. You can look up different brands online and see what the manufacturers have to say about the footbeds to help you decide. Look at the way you walk and what your feet do when you're barefoot. Talk to your coworkers and find out what they like too...
If your feet turn a little laterally- I forgot what the term for that is- then Dansko's are going to be dangerous. The heel on them plus the fact that the arch is mostly medial will have you turning your ankles and you do NOT want to do that. It hurts. So you have to know your feet.
I tried on a lot of running shoe brands and didn't like most of 'em, but the new balance backless one has a footbed with lateral and medial arches, plus it's low to the ground. I can not have bad foot posture in them, it helps my back somewhat... but I do run right out of 'em in a code.
The squishy shoes... I didn't buy crocs due to the inability to find the darn things in my size in a store... got some knockoffs... they aren't bad. They fall in the category of the type shoe that I wear once or twice a week but not the whole week. Same goes for Klogs which are like a precursor to Crocs only they're pretty much a solid block of rubber that squeaks like a flock of baby ducks when you walk.
I bought a brown pair of birkenstocks to try them out at home and they were NOT for me, regardless of the nice things people have to say about the wonderful support they provide. A hundred and thirty dollars to find out that I'd rather walk with a couple of pebbles stuck IN my other shoes, than walk on those things. Hmph.
Yeah, I guess you might have to try them all...

:chuckle:roll
I did have to try them all, LOL. Foot comfort is pretty durn important!
Danskos - tripped over a parking lot speed bump in front of peers - OUT
Crocs - not enough arch support, OK around the house
Birkenstock - ooooh perfect
Think! - ooooh another perfect
I also never wear the same shoe two nights in row. Works for me

The trouble with Crocs, is they are the ugliest shoe created. They make people look like garden gnomes.

I've tried Dansko's and I found that because they are so hard, my knees and hips would kill by the end of a 12 hour shift. However, Calzuro's are fantastic! A lot of the OR nurses where I work wear them, most say they've never purchased anything else. They are clogs that come in a variety of colors, and have proven to be the best thing for me. They have the little massaging bumps on the bottom, but I cover those up with an inner sole. They also have side vents, and you can get the holes on top too if you chose. However, I fear poop and urine landing on my toes....yukk!! :uhoh21:
Definitely get the circulation hose, or TEDS, which ever works. Those are a MUST!!! Combined, my legs and feet feel GREAT after a long crazy shift. Hope this helps, good luck with your search!
Here's a link to them, they really are great!

I wear crocks, shox, and birks (bostons). Never wear the same pair twice in a row.
