Shoes with Good Support!

Nurses Uniform/Gear

I'm really desperate for a shoe with good support. I've tried Danskos and running shoes, but my arches ache when I'm on my feet all day long. Does anybody have experience with crocs? I heard they're good. Any other tips would be great! Thanks!

I've had good experiences with Nursemates, SAS, and New Balance. But I think it's largely an individual matter -- different brands and makes are more or less comfortable for different people, since everyone's feet are different.

I am a runner (and I severe over-pronater). I wear Asics Gel Kayano and would NEVER switch to anything else. 12 hours later, and my feet never hurt.. just the usual "tired" :)

I have Specialist Crocs and NO SUPPORT whatsoever. I stick w/ either my New Balance shoes or fake Dansko's and I wear medical compression hose.

why dont you go to a podiatrist and have an insole made for your shoes to fit exactly with your arch to keep you from hurting. I know a few who have done it and LOVE them. I wear the "Anywear" crocs and love those. If I had stayed at the hospital, I would have had the insoles made, but I do homehealth now and I dont really have the same problem anymore.

It might be worth it for you to get special insoles. I have severe foot and back problems. I am flat footed but have a very high natural arch. I just have never worn shoes with good arches to support that. Now I am trying to fix that. Anyway, I ordered some special arches and they have helped tons, they haven't completely eliminated the problem but have helped it about 80% I spent about 120 dollars for 2 pairs. I have a pair of Danskos and New Balance. I put them in the Danskos over the insole that came with them. It's still not enough full support though. Before second semester starts for me where I will have more clinicals I am going to go to The Good Feet store and get custom insoles made. I also start PT on my back so combined I should be on my way.

It can get costly but I figure it's a justifiable cost. Might be worth looking into if it's a big problem for you :)

I went to a running shoe store and had a gait analysis done. When I reviewed the video of myself running, it was clear that I needed a stabilizing shoe. I added moldable insoles, and have not had a single episode of foot pain since. I even ran a 10K in my running shoes, and my feet were fine!

i LOVE my shox. they took a couple days to break in, but didnt hurt my feet in that period. now, my feet feel awesome while at work AND when i come home. my fiance bought them @ lady footlocker, with the "special" insoles they offer, for about 140$... totally worth it!

i like nike shox. i recently developed pretty severe plantar facitits and ended up buying arch supports from the good feet store. VERY expensive, but TOTALLY worth every penny. took away my foot, knee, hip and back pain!!

I have horrible plantar facititis of one foot only. The pain has been unbearable for 6 months now. May I ask you what type of arch supports you got? The full length or just heal support? I am desperate to try anyting at this point.

Thank you
