Hi everyone...
I start Nursing School next week (yay!)...
Can anyone suggest some VERY comfy, supportive, "duty" shoes for my upcoming crazy schedule?
I've heard crocks are wonderful, but I'm not sure if they are "duty shoes" and will be supportive enough for the 8hr clinicals? I'm wondering if I should just stick to a classic New Balance sneaker?
Thanks a lot!

You don't need to blow a lot of money on shoes for clinicals. You won't be on your feet for 12 hours with few breaks.
Ahem, not universally true. My last clinical rotation we did 12 hour shifts and were on our feet the entire time unless charting OR at lunch.
I'm a Danskos girl, myself. Love 'em so much I wear them even when NOT working now.
I love my New Balance 811 walking shoes!! If you have a problem pronating or supinating, the roll bar really helps!! No more turned out ankles/sprains when hustling on the floors!:redpinkhe Not to mention that they are super comfortable, need no breaking in, and help with your legs and back!
I bought these today at Sports Authority and so far they feel very comfortable...
I'll wear them during first few weeks of lecture and let everyone know how they are!
I cannot recommend Dansko's enough (I prefer them over Sanitas because they are a bit wider). I already had a great pair for work, but I love them so much I shelled out the extra $$$ for white ones (white was a requirement), and I don't regret it at all. Whenever I try to wear a different shoe - like sneakers or something I ALWAYS end up with an achy back and achy knees. I figure I only have one pair of feet and one back, so I better treat them right.
I wear shoesforcrews its a shoe designed for kitchen wear but the tread is amazingly slipproof and after a 16 hour shift in the ER as a tech they stiil feel good (well, as good as feet can feel after 16 hours). I swear by the Euro Clog because i like the clog look but need a fully supportive back and they come in white (and black).
I am going into my senior year of an RT program, but I love shoes so I thought I'd chime in. It basically depends on how much you would like to spend. My school doesn't care what type of shoes you have as long as they are safe (closed shoe) and ALL white. Many of my classmates found inexpensive white shoes that are pretty comfy. I have gone with Nike for most of my shoes for clinicals. I found a plain tennis shoe on sale for $40 that I used my first semester of clinicals. Even though they were Nike, they werent too flashy and they got the job done. I'm now in love with Nike Shox, and the best part is you can find them in all white! A few of my classmates bought white Pumas that are pretty cute. I bought a pair of Reebok EasyTones over break and I cant wait to try them out. A few classmates have the Sketchers version and say they are comfortable so I am excited to try mine out. Although last semester I got stuck with preceptors that enjoyed running up and down the stairs all day so Im sure I will get the exercise either way
I heart my Alegria Clogs. They are super comfy and I specially love their footbed. My feet still feel great everyday after work. I really encourage to try out a pair at a local store that carries it and you will be hooked to them.

I love the shape ups! The great thing about sketchers is just about every shoe model they have has arch support in mind. Even their flats and dress shoes are comfy to wear.
