  1. Thanks.. i know what i posted is very vague. I will definitely be calling them tomorrow. It's been a long few days!
  2. I went to the doctor today with complaints of a severe headache, nausea, vomiting, fever, etc. She said it's viral meningitis. She opted to do an MRI and had the results read today. She called a little while ago and said that my MRI showed a "pocket of blood vessels" that i've "probably had since birth". I didn't ask any questions because I'm going back to the doctor on Thursday and just really didn't feel up to discussing it anymore. It's really bothering me now because I'm not really sure what it means. Is that an AVM? Any info would be appreciated :)
  3. It may be delayed because of the main professors for NUR101 has been out for the past month. They all tend to revise the information a million times before giving them out.
  4. They do offer it.. If you go to bristolcc.edu and then click "Noncredit course search" then summer 2011: health care.. you can scroll down and see the dates. It's $65 which you pay at student accounts when you go to the enrollment center to enroll in the class. The dates are: 06/09 @ 6-10pm; 07/14 @ 6-10pm; 06/18 @ 9-1pm; 07/23 @ 9-1pm; 08/11 @ 6-10pm; 08/20 @ 9-1pm. And there is a book at the bookstore you'll need to purchase too I think for it.
  5. Student Accounts in G Building
  6. It just needs to be valid through June2012 so that would be fine as long as it's through the American Heart Association..not like Red Cross or something.
  7. I am a current student..you will need to purchase books, a stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, uniforms, a gait belt, a watch with a sweep second hand, a nurse pack (which is a kit put together that you purchase in the school bookstore)... For your malpractice insurance its only like $12 a semester and it's automatically added to your tuition bill. You need proof of regular health insurance..you also need to be CPR certified through the American Heart Association and it HAS to be valid through the end of the program...meaning..if you are CPR certified already or go to the class anytime from now til the end of May it won't count, you'll have to do it again. So go to CPR class in June or July.
  8. Lectures for NUR101 and 102 are on Mondays from 8-12.. If they do 101 the same as they did ours the days are Tue, Wed, Thurs (you'll have lab one of those days, clinical one of those days, and the other one off). For 102 the rotations vary and can be weekends/evenings/etc. There are 9 clinical groups of 8 students each.
  9. The book we needed was Sheila Ogden - Calculation of Drug Dosages 8th edition ISBN 978-0323045889 But there is a newer 9th edition that came out March 1st, 2011 that is ISBN 978-0-323-07753-8 They always want the newest edition so you'll probably need the newer one. There are a ton of books (like 13 maybe?) you'll need..they come to between $800 and $1000. You'll get a packet with a bunch of information and it will have a book list. You'll also get an order form for the Company Uniform Store in Fall River to order your uniform/name tag/etc from. You'll need: a stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, safety goggles, gait belt, a watch with a sweep second hand, and a tape recorder (optional). When you buy your books you'll have to also pick up a nurse pack in the bookstore that will have a bunch of supplies for you to use in lab.
  10. Do the math chapters (1-15 I think) in your dosage calc book over the summer and then brush up before the semester starts. You'll have a math test on day 2 that you need an 85 or better on (it's 20 questions). Also, do your readings for the first week before school starts (if they don't give you a course packet with the reading list, email one of the professors and ask for it). You'll have a ton of stuff to get adjusted to and if you have the readings done ahead of time you'll have one less thing to stress about. You'll start lectures on Day 1 so don't forget a notebook :). When you buy your stethoscope and blood pressure cuff start practicing taking BPs if you don't have any experience. Other than that..I'd say take it as easy as you can over the summer because one it starts..it's very intense!
  11. Congrats everyone! See you guys this fall at the luncheon our class will be hosting to welcome yours :)
  12. That's awesome!! CONGRATS!
  13. I have two kids (ages 2 and 5) and I know a lot of people in the program that have more than that. If you're able to manage your time simply by having the kids then you'll be fine!
  14. I'm in OB right now...we're switching in just a few weeks. My gpa was 3.94..TEAS was 89.4. GOOD LUCK! :)
  15. Good luck to all of you in getting into the program! It's tons of work (I'm in my second semester now) but so worth it.
