  1. It took one month with the live scan.... so I'm not sure with the card. I applied for a temp license but got my perm one first :/ so I wouldn't bother with the temp license.
  2. Mine didn't break it down either.
  3. Yes. Mostly nurses from the Philippines. They are denying many endorsements as well as renewals. You should call the BON.
  4. Yes I would say (as others have) that for professional it basically means "re-learning" nursing. Everything is different with Neonates. There is basically no room for error because they are so tiny. Also it means teaching to the parents, EVERYTHING. Most of them are too scared to even touch their baby without you telling them it is okay. As far as personal, it means spending a lot of your off work time learning the world of neonates. It also means dealing with many ethical issues, and taking them home with you, even if you usually leave work at work.
  5. You would still be going back and forth to the rooms, since the babies are in and out of the nursery. Not as critical though. Usually just normal labs and teaching for the parents etc.
  6. Yes I was a new grad. Yes I had previous experience as an extern as well as a temporary 8 week assignment as an RN. I also have a BSBA in marketing. I am at a large hospital in Fresno.
  7. They were all behavioral. No clinical questions at all.
  8. Yes I'm currently working in CA (started yesterday). It took me 9 months to get a job. I came from Oklahoma where the jobs are plentiful. Everyone in my graduating class had a job before they graduated and took the NCLEX.
  9. Thank you! I'm pretty excited, I start tomorrow.
  10. Did you endorse or NCLEX for CA?
  11. Yes. It is better than having to wait for CA BON to tell you they need it. Just request them all.
  12. In my experience they didn't even look at my applications until I obtained a CA license. The endorsment process took about a month. Since neither of you worked you are basically competing with every other new grad, which as I'm sure you've noticed from posts, is a bleak job outlook. People think that it's only hard to get jobs in SoCal and NorCal, but the Central Valley is just as bad. It is the WHOLE state. Small country towns and large cities, it doesn't matter. Hospital, clinics, LTC, Home Health, Etc. It's hard regardless of the location. I suggest you get a job in a fly over state and get 1+ year acute experience before you move to CA. Best of luck to you both.

No. General comments: I do have a previous degree which I believe helped because I have previous work experience and management experience. I am also currently enrolled in a BSN program.
  14. You made plans based on your administrators answer of 2 weeks. They should be held to that. You should be covered. Good luck in your new job!
  15. With the new grad unemployment rate so high you will likely not be marketable without a BSN. So if you are wanting to get your ADN and work while getting your BSN it will be difficult. This is actually the route I chose due to moving. And I was job hunting for 9 months. I was only given interviews after I enrolled in a BSN program and added it to my resume.
