September is Ovarian Cancer awareness month.
From the Ovarian Cancer Awareness web site :
Ovarian Cancer is one of the most deadly of women's cancers. Each year, approximately 21,980 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer. In 2014, approximately 14,270 women will die in the United States from this disease. It is estimated by the World Health Organization IARC department that there are over 238,000 new cases diagnosed annually and nearly 152,000 deaths worldwide.

Thank you for reminding us of this deadly disease; the most lethal of all gynecologic cancers, and the 5th leading cause of cancer death in women.
I love ya OCNRN63!

12 year ovarian cancer survivor here. Mine was staged as Stage 1 Grade 1, 3 chemo treatments. NED 12 years later. Yes, even Stage 1 can have a poor outcome.
I have all sorts of things about OC awareness on my Faceook page in September.

I think I mis worded my post. My outcome was great and am doing well. I had a friend diagnosed with the same stage who passed away a few years later. That is what I was meaning about even Stage 1 can have a poor outcome.
I am one that beat all the odds!!!!!

Still *hugs* for you losing a friend & I'm glad you're doing well.
(((HUGS))) to all.
Congratulations on being NED for 12 years. I went 3 1/2 years after first being dx., then recurred the beginning of this year. I wasn't able to complete my chemo because of my bone marrow, so we'll have to wait and see.
I have a blog that deals with my dx. and treatment. I link it to my FB account and I try to put something on FB about OC Awareness Month every day.
