hi there

any September NCLEX-RN test takers out there?

I graduated from a nursing school in the Philippines a year ago, needed to work first to pay the fees for taking the NCLEX-RN. Now that I have my Authorization to test I plan to take the exam late September here in NY. I really need to pass the exam cause I'm really broke now :crying2:

I'm taking the Kaplan On Demand, Saunders 5th Edition, La charity and Ohman

Any suggestions and tips?

I didn't pass my nlcex rn last friday :( But, I know that I will get it next time. I was wondering if you heard of the Hurst Review Live the one that you go to a seminar thing.. If you all heard it is a good resource and is it worth the money?

Hi I am not sure about Hurst Review Live but I jut recently found out that I passed the nclex rn exam. I used Kaplan and did a whole bunch of questions for 2 straight months. I answered about 100 Qs a day and worked my way up. I only used my book if I got the questions wrong and try to understand why I got it wrong. I also reviewed the ones I got right. It is really easy to get overwhelmed with the resources out there but I think as long as you stick to your plan, it will work out. Best Wishes!

I am also taking mine late September this will be my 3rd time and believe me I am ready to pass. I am doing the hurst review its great, doing questions out of the q and a book from Saunders, and also using the lacharity book. Also there are some great notes that I got from this website that i can share with u if u like. Best of luck.

I will be on my 4th attempt.. UGGHH,, frustrating for us all,, I know

I will be doing my 2nd attempt in September haven't received my ATT yet but as soon as I PAY to pearson vue I know i will get it in 2 days so not worrying for it...but it is really frustrating to study study n study.I mean we studied like 4 years to get Nursing degree and now have to go through this torture...:( I will pray all of us that we all pass this is like a biggest nightmare bcoz my life seems stuck to me don know wht to do until I clear this freaking NCLEX...:(( God help us please....

I'm a foreigner too but completed my nursing program here. I'm such an advocate for Kaplan. Kaplan all throughout was what worked for me.I read the book twice, did all of the qtrainers (60-75%) and qbank (66% overalll). I passed the first time with 75qs. Good luck and I hope you'll do well.:D

Please do not be discouraged and before you go take a review, do an overall assessment, if you can, of the questions that you were getting wrong. One of my instructors told me that the best review, is right inside of you. A review, is just that, a review and none of the reviews perform miracles, no matter what they advertise. So, think about your weak areas, and work on them first. I have not passed the RN exam, and I know it is hard to keep working toward your goal; however, DO NOT DWELL in not passing because the devil will step in and try to get you to give up. Keep praying and reviewing/working on your weak areas then, if you still think you need a review, get more input before paying out the money. Good Luck and God Bless!!!! You will be successful!!

I am looking for a review buddy. I am taking my boards this Aug/September. I need a buddy who would remind me to do 100 questions or more a day. I am easily distracted when I am reviewing. Can anyone give me tips on how to remain focus?

Okay, so this is my studying plan for four weeks and I would like to know what you all thought about this. If this is a good study plan??

Okay, so I have watched all of the hurst online videos on the core content(like 26videos over body systems, surgery, children, maternity, endocrine, etc).

I have been doing and will be doing everynight until the tests 100 kaplan qbank questions.

I am going to watch the hurst review videos again to make it be the second time watching them all.

I will then do NSCBN extension learning for 3 weeks of answering 20 questions a day and reading one module over a disease.

the week before my test I am going to review the lacharity book on delegation,prioritization,and assignment book. That book has 21 chapters. I did before my first test the first 8 chapters too.

Please any thoughts are welcomed. I am wanting to know if this is too much.

Note: I have taken the nclex rn on july 8, 2011 and failed it the first time. This will be my second time taking it :)

this is good. however, this takes up a lot of time. the key now is to answer a lot of questions each day, say 100-200 Qs per day and reviewing them whether you got them right or wrong. watching videos/reading books takes up A LOT OF TIME and I recommend doing that ONLY if you get stuck with a problem or you want to focus on your weak areas.

-Nothing wrong with watching videos. if you have the time, do it. Personally, exposing yourself with different problems/questions will train your brain how to answer the questions correctly. NCLEX is not so much with the content. It is more focused on how to answer the questions. what is the stem asking you? comprehension is not going to take you to the passing side, but ANALYSIS AND APPLICATION will!

-questions are good. try to do 100 a day if you can and do it in a random form. focused question banks are good if you know your weak areas. try to do it on the quiz/exam mode. avoid doing questions under study mode (will tell you if you get the question right or wrong per question)

-how about just go ahead and jumping on the questions and answering them? if you got the questions wrong, crack that book open and find out why you got it incorrect. again, ANSWERING QUESTIONS is the key. exposing yourself with different problems. Honestly, I end up answering almost 4,000 questions in 8 weeks span.

Please any thoughts are welcomed. I am wanting to know if this is too much.

-you will be fine. i think the second time around, you will pass. manage your time wisely. at this point, it is all about answering questions. learn the strategy. look up content only if you have to. buy a whole bunch of notebooks, so you can write down the things you got wrong and make a note why you got them wrong. protect your study schedule. turn off your phone if you have to.

-it is kind of hard to look for a review buddy. however, if you found one, make sure you study with those that are as dedicated as you are. they got to want to pass NCLEX soo bad like you too.

- Your phone can remind you to do 100 questions or more a day. If you want to pass NCLEX, set up your alarm and remind yourself that it is time to study.

other tips to remain focused: go to library. you need to remove yourself from your comfort zone. turn of your cellphone if you have to. get off facebook if you have one (I got to the point I had to deactivate my facebook accnt for NCLEX--that's how much I want to pass)

-I am sure that it is a relief for you to get a test date, but at the same time, puts on a pressure now to study and pass that NCLEX. I felt the same way. I wanted to pass the NCLEX so bad. But with patience, dedication, perseverance, I passed. you got to really want it in order to pass :)

I'm taking the Kaplan On Demand, Saunders 5th Edition, La charity and Ohman

-I took Kaplan. Do their question banks and do 'em all! 100-200 questions per day is the key and reviewing them will make you understand how you got it right or wrong. Kaplan is only asking for 60% on qbanks. If you can get that or higher, you good to go. There are so many questions on management of care. delegations and prioritizing. it can be hard on nclex. so make sure you get a lot of practice on those.

Any suggestions and tips?

-i studied 4-5 hours each day. 5 days a week, for 2 months. I only did Kaplan question banks and Saunders' alternative style questions. I avoided reading the book and only did it if I got stuck on a question or I just want to focus on some areas. i passed the 1st time with 75 questions. no trick--just questions after questions...!
