Well what do you know. I graduated from Excelsior College February 20th,2009 and can't seem to enjoy my new found freedom of being study free. My new job has inspired me to get my bachelor's degree. The UNC RN-BSN program is done on-line and will cost $5000.I could do it in 3,4,or 5 semesters. My job has made major cuts in budgets and will cover $1500. I will take out a loan for the rest. After looking at a bunch of roles. I think I would love to do Staff Development in a hospital setting. I was sitting back listening to all the departments come in and do their presentations and I am most intrested in Patient Education,Staff Education(teaching workshops, ACLS,BCLS etc) or even a Nurse Recruiter . I love to educate and I could just imagine myself in a role like that.
I chose UNC because is a GREAT school and 50 minutes from my home and the program is online. It also doesn't hurt that they are Nationally known as the NCAA Basketball Champions! I sent my transcripts to see how many of my old credits they would accept. If I don't have to take alot of classes and they accept me, I am gonna enroll in January 2010.
Thanks Sue, Lunah and Change and Gail for inspiring me to advance my career! You guys ROCK!!!!!:rckn:

Congrats to you as you cont. to excel to the top. Traci
Thanks everyone for your well wishes! I just found out this week that my hospital funds their employers for BSN. My hospital has a satelite college that comes every Wednesday from 5p-9pm for a year and you can get your BSN like that. You have to enroll in the college and they come to Wakemed for the lectures. There is no online component. You have to write papers and do some group projects. It starts every May and ends the next May. The exciting thing about it is that its the college that I got my undergraduate degree from in 1996. Another exciting thing is that it only cost $57 an hour so the grand total will be a whopping $2052 dollars because I have all my prerequisites except for Statistics. The next class will start this month so I will have to start May 2010. I think I am gonna go with this option. I am excited about it!
That is great!! :)
