Senioritis

I'm in my final semester, and totally burnt out! I'm sick of my classmates and above all, my professors! I have even resorted to counting the number of classes I have until it's all over. Any advice on how to stay in the game until the very end?

I wish I were in your shoes--first semester student here. No advice...just don't "wish your life away." I'm torn between wishing it were Thanksgiving already, but knowing I'm going to hit the big "30" before then.

RNinProgress,

I good way to stay in the game until the end is to take a good look at your student loan debt (if you have any). :) Hope that makes you laugh a little. Good luck! You're almost done!

I'm in the same boat as you, trouble is I still have 1 more semester after this one. I have major senioritis and I'm starting to think it's a little too early to feel this way. Anyway, enjoy your last couple of months, they'll fly by and next thing you know you'll be a nurse and have your life back! Good luck!

Cure for senioritis--feeling burned out and resentful toward classmates and instructors is part of the game, I think.

Try finding something to be grateful for and focusing on that.

It got so bad for me that I would be grateful when the light changed to green because it meant I didn't have to stop, and grateful when it turned red because it gave me a few moments to sip my coffee, straighten my uniform, swipe on some lipstick, whatever.

By the time I got where I was going, I was in a good mood, so I made a point of being happy "at" people. I said good morning, I smiled, I complimented. I told myself what a great dayI was having and how happy I was to be there.

It worked. Within 25-30 minutes, I was having a great day, I was happy to be where I was and no more feeling burned out or resentful.

Try it--nothing to lose but your misery!

What actually helped me (i had senoritis the last 2 months of school) was this morning. I get to work, walk through the back lobby and see a group of 10 LPN students waiting for their instructor. They just started school 2 weeks ago, and started clinicals this week. It was plenty just to see that and think "thank God i'm not there anymore".

Senioritis will pass, just remember to make some time for yourself, away from school and the people associated with it.

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm counting down the days until the pinning ceremony on Dec 16. Unfortunately, I'm in Central Florida and we have just gone through 2 hurricanes with a third one on the way. We just found out today that since school was closed all last week because of the evacuations that some days we had off we now have to attend lecture, and all of our lectures days have been extended.

good advice chris, I think I need to try that.

I agree, great advice. I'll start: I am so greatful that I have found three awesome new friends in nursing school, and we've all made it through together. But the hardest thing for me this semester is that we are doing psych. for the next two weeks. That means we have to wear dress clothes all day! Yuck! I'm really looking foward to going back to our hospital, eating the great pizza there (great and hospital food in the same sentence?). I miss that old routine and I really dislike psych!!! But I'm also greatful that we have all made it this far!!!!! Good luck everyone!
