Hi! Just starting a thread for all students applying to the SSC/UCF BSN concurrent program for Fall 2011. Best of luck to you all!
wannabnurs...
I am already a full time student at UCF. This program was my backup plan since I got rejected from their basic BSN program. I just finished my last gen ed class and my last prereq this semester...which they said wouldn't be a problem. When I got rejected from their program, I talked to the nursing advisor there and he said my GPA would be very competitive at SSC and that I would have a good chance of getting in. I'm making an appointment with him tomorrow and then driving to SSC for an explanation. I already hate that I won't be doing the UCF program, but not being able to do concurrent either just breaks my heart.

i am in the same position you are - currently a UCF student that was not accepted into the basic BSN program and still waiting to hear from SSC as my back up plan. I'm so afraid that I won't be accepted into the concurrent program and not sure what I am going to do. What are your plans for next semester?
Hello everyone,
I am new to this site, but have been reading the posts for a few months. I got my letter of acceptance to the concurrent program sat afternoon and I was soooo happy. Congrats to all that also were accepted and to those that werent, do not give up. Everything happens for a reason, just keep pushing forward.

I'm not sure what I'm doing next semester now. This program was what I expected to be doing I'm applying at USF's nursing program, which starts this fall, but I really don't want to have to go there and I know nothing about that program to begin with. I'm waiting to hear from the Cocoa and Daytona UCF campuses to see if I got into either of the programs there, but seeing as how the program on the main campus was so competitive this year I really don't think I have the greatest shot. Those start in January, so for fall I would probably get a second job and just take like one or two classes if I got into one of those :/
Congratulations to all you ladies!!
wannabnurs I am so glad you got in!! I remember you from last Aug. when we were all excitingly waiting together. I'm starting my 2nd semester now.
Hang in there and look us up if you need any help!

Thank you RedCarnation....just might have to come see you guys! I'm so excited and running around like crazy trying to get immunizations up to date and various other things. Good luck in your 2nd semester!
Okay so I just talked to the UCF concurrent advisor at the SCC campus and while I was talking to her, her phone rang and someone told her they never received an SCC application from me. I definitely turned in applications to both programs and I told her I even talked to a general advisor the day I turned them in to make sure I had everything. I emailed another nursing advisor there to tell her the situation since she wasn't picking up her phone...so we'll see what happens. It sounds like they lost one of my applications.

For some reason, I cannot download the forms from the immunization tracking system website. When I click on the form, it opens up a new window, but it does not download anything. I just get a blank page. Anyone else having this problem?
Also, has anyone ever had to submit an appeal in order to get financial aid? Im thinking it's because I have too many credits (I have a Bachelors degree from UCF), but I never had to use financial aid. I hope they do not deny me receiving financial aid.
Hey iluvlaxx3,
Do you have Adobe, MSWord, etc. on your computer? I'm sure you do, but that's the only reason I can think of for why you can't download them. I have them in an email that I emailed to my hubby so that I could print them on his printer. You want me to email them to you? I will private message you with my email address.
As for the financial aid, I am hearing that from a lot of people who already have a degree of some sort. I hope that you will be able to sort it out.
ok, I tried using Firefox instead of Internet Explorer (which has been super slow lately), and I can now see the forms.
I plan to submit my financial aid appeal form tomorrow. I also need to speak with a counselor to get a "grad check". If I am approved, then it will only be for the classes listed in my grad check (approved by the counselor).

Coffee and Wannabenurs:
Oh man, Im sorry to hear you were'nt accepted, coffee.
Definitely try again! Dont give up. The world needs people who truly care about nursing!!
To be honest, I also thought I would be rejected just because most people dont get accepted first time around (and not to mention I dont have the most amazing grades!). I recieved my AA degree Summer 2010. I finished my prereqs Fall 2010. I finished both Chem and Stats Spring 2011. I applied to UCF and was accepted by Fall 2010 (I applied for Fall 2011).
