So I usually use hand sanitizer and never had a problem but now I'm worried because I stupidly sniffed my hand to see if they still smelled like gloves after I used it. Right after I did that I had instant regret. I'm worried I'll test positive for alcohol now. I've never drank since I've been in a recovery program. And I don't have a substance problem. Do yall think I'll be positive? Should I go pee a few times before I test? Any info is helpful.

Don't believe everything you hear I never stopped working every situation is different.

thank you guys so much, thank you for easing my nerves, this is absolutely heartbreaking. I've worked with nurses who genuinely caused detrimental harm to patients and are walking "free." I'm genuinely not an addict, I'm not perfect thats for sure though, but I am being punished for two unaccounted opioids, which I get it. if its not charted its not done. I have been a nurse for 10 years and worked so many different hospitals and loved every moment of it. they did an investigation of all my 4 years at the hospital I was and talked to my coworkers, just this scrutiny alone has me so demoralized. I cry almost on daily basis. At my current job right now I so afraid to even touch any controlled substances, every time I go to work I pray I don't get a patient that is pain med seeking. I live in fear and I haven't even started my sentence yet.
I have a question regarding the urine collection, I'm sure I'm going to get picked this week, how much water do you drink? and how much in advance? Do you go first thing in the morning? what time is best to go? I have absolutely nothing in my system, but I have used hand sanitizer at work, I don't drink at all so im not worried about that, and I don't have any mood altering medication beside that Norco in July, but I have taken Benadryl back in September.
what has been the hardest part being in the program?

I go at different times honestly my u can drink water just not too much like before testing I have drink a few and no dilutes as long as your urine still has color to it. Now don't drink 6 bottles before testing. This is a messed up situation as it was for me as well. How long is your sentence ? It is hard mentally at the beginning but trust us you will be OK and get through this! I use sanitizer but not right before a test . I eat anything but pure vanilla extract and rum or bourbon sauces. Don't take any allergy meds except antihistamines. No cough syrup. The hardest part is waiting till your time is up honestly.
If you go test first thing in the morning and just hold your urine that's the easiest way to make sure it's not dilute. I wouldn't drink more than 16 ounces of water.
I'll say again lawyer up for the evaluation. I don't know if the lawyer knows what evaluators are fair or if it's shady and the lawyer and evaluator have an unspoken pact but it does seem to matter. And 8f you get a month agreement ask for an independent evaluator.
Don't take benadryl.
I don't know that there is just one hardest part. The testing is so inconvenient. We have so many requirements. The meetings are probably the easiest.

I'm at the beginning of this process. I haven't even gotten evaluated to see if I have a diagnosis yet. I don't even know who my evaluators are. but because I'm working they want me to start testing. if I didn't work, they wouldn't test me prior to evaluation. and thank you!! ❤️

I do have a lawyer, actually it's a lawyer from the group that had a class action lawsuit against my program a few years back. (don't know if thats going to help me), but he did say to give him the evaluators names when I get them.
what is "a month agreement?"

They will send you a list of evaluators to choose from..if you get an index evaluation after they say you need a monitoring agreement, if that happens you can pick any evaluator in their system. At least that's how it works where I am. You want to avoid a monitoring program. I didn't lawyer up and didn't get the independent evaluation. I wish I would have. The head of the month program can override the evaluation.

Glad you have a lawyer. It was suppose to say monitoring agreement not month agreement. Sorry.

Have a good lawyer because in my state no matter what they will give u a diagnosis. Like I said all my friends test were negative and he only told that he drinks for special occasions and they diagnosed with mild alcohol abuse and put him in monitoring

I often had to go after work. I iust sipped water and ate a lunch rich in protien such as Tuna Salad, Chicken or PBJ and avoided bathroom breaks. This routine kept me from getting a dilute urine.

Oh I believe it. I'm not going to admit to anything. My last drink was one cocktail in July. But I'm not going to admit to that. In my eyes I don't even drink but going through this hell for some strange reason I just want a shot to forget this is happening to me. You know...

Ah okay. Yes my lawyer is very well versed in these issues. I'm just going to follow what he says. I got so scared when they told me I was being investigated for my entire stay at that hospital that didn't even trust myself. But I got a lawyer right away, I'm too sensitive and an emotional person to be logical in these situations. Just to avoid conflict I'd admit to *** even if not committed just to move on. But when it comes to my patient I would advocate and argue with the meanest heart surgeons. Anyway thank you for listening... and all the advices. I'm sure I'll be asking more questions.... I truly from the bottom of my heart appreciate each and everyone of you who take the time to respond. 💕💕

Every state is different. I was working and continue to work. I'm grateful my employer was sympathetic and didn't fire me. I didn't have to go to IOP or PHP. It's expensive. If I had another career path I would have done it. I don't vacation because of the monitoring agreement and eat out less . I'm dying for my previous life which will happen but not soon enough. When this is over I can resume life as normal and so can you. Maybe you will escape the monitoring agreement.
