Seeing this quite a bit

I've been subscribed to this site for some time now and gravitate to the LPN/LVN since that is my position.

I've been noticing that for quite sometime now most of the postings are related to people lamenting becoming an LPN/LVN. It's usually the same RN vs LPN issue.

It would be refreshing to read items posted about LPNs doing their jobs and NOT complaining about the letters after their name, to me, this subject is old and stale!

As a side note, I'd like to mention that I find it very hard to believe that some people here finished elementary school, let alone nursing school. The spelling and grammar is awful in some of the entries.

Wow, malenursega, that was the biggest run-on sentence I've ever seen in my life. You're just playing with me, right?

I read his other posts. He doesn't believe in periods.

This is a perfect example. From MaleNurseGA's post, he strikes me as the coworker you do not want to get stuck with if you want to get any work done! I imagine that 1) no one can ever get a word in edgewise since there's no break in the flow of words, and 2) he never stops, just rambles on and on. If I am wrong, then perhaps there's something we've all learned about the importance of expressing yourself properly.

I don't like run on sentences AND grammar and punctuation errors either. I must say, it bothers me. Lets not make people feel like we received our nursing education out of a cookie jar. PLEASE. I was an LPN before I became an RN and I believe the RNs made us feel "Low" for "Low Paid Nurse." If it wasn't for that, I would have been fine. But now we have the ADN vs BSN. It seems like it will NEVER end! So now I've come to realize that once I'm satisfied with who I AM, nothing else matters!

hahaha! It is hilarious that it works you up enough to disrespect someone you don't know. you're all absolutely correct I have no since of written grammar. call it laziness if you want. sometimes my brain gets in front of my keyboard, just don't feel like I should proof read my forum post...

I'm proud that I was an LPN. I became an RN so that I could move into positions reserved for RN's with a general purpose of teaching others that they are valuable. I am PROUD to have my LPN tatoo and I am PROUD that it's permanent! I hope it always reminds me that there is a need for everyone and that the letters don't equate to the person, only their actions do. As I've said in other posts, I may have RN behind my name, but I will always know my roots as a Loving, Passionate Nurse.

my only advice is that if you have the time and money might as well be an rn. at least in acute care on some units you have pretty much the same duties and pts but the pay is alot less

Would love to but I find we don't get much credit being an RPN/LPN. I spent 2.5 years in school to get my RPN status, it is another 3 years (1 of college and 2 of university) to get my RN. The best part? A high school student can apply for their RN and get it in 4 years. Where did the 2.5 years get me?
