i don't think there are any classes for critical thinking. but, you can use the time to study the material again, and practice nclex-styled questions. you can purchase a comprehensive study guide for nclex-pn. there are many companies that write them. most use saunders, but there is mosby, delmar, lippincott, davis, and a bunch of others. i suggest saunders. use their cds to answer practice questions and review the answers, whether they are correct or not, and review those rationals!!

also, since you will be repeating the class, you should be familar with the professor and the material, which is a plus. good luck!

Since you have been a CNA for so long and really want to be a nurse definitely try again. If you can figure out where you had trouble in this class and focus on that it will help. Best of luck.

While they may not offer specific critical thinking for nurses course most community colleges offer a critical thinking course in their philosophy department that may be helpful and the plus is that it will transfer to a four year degree. Introduction to Logic might be helpful also though a little harder. For reading take a reading course from the english department. Hope this helps

By all means continue, someone has said continue to read over your material. Do you have to do the clinical portion over or just the class?

I remember our instructor would say, read your chapter 3x. It was amazing how much you would actually remember. I was always amazed how much infor they would take from the little info boxes from the chapters.

Remember, you are coming from the aspect of a nurse, not a nursing assistant. Some times that is hard to overcome.

What exactly did you have trouble with? Specifics.....

I am sure anyone here will gladly help....

How many hours a week do you have to work? I'm talking about your JOB, not school work. When I was in LPN school, I noticed that when I went from working 40 hours a week to 25 my grades went up!

I only work everyother weekend 7am-3pm thats it. My childrern are in college (20&18 yrs old) & I am not married & not dating any one

One of my teachers told me that I had alot of test anxiety & I don't know what 2 do about that

I noticed that w/OB&Peds the more repetition I had the better it was 4 me but it was so much info w/Med Surg it became overwhelming 4 me:(

I remember one thing that I did was do questions out of Saunder's or mosby's, Lippincott.

i did questions out of the NCLEX-PN study guides. do the questions then read the rationales as to why the questions are right or wrong.

Remember Maslow's heirarchy, ABC'c, when answering the questions. What exactly is it asking? Prioritizing, delegating, Remember key words in the questions. I know it is alot, remember not to read into the question. Don't start thinking what if this happens, THE QUESTION HAS ALL THE PERTINENT INFO TO ASWER THE QUESTION.

hope this helps.

HI

I had trouble to becouse I would get really nervous with all the material and read WAY too much in to the questions.what bout this what bout that and so on.I had to literally train my thought process to stay focused on the basics. I found it very helpfull to answer my questions using ABC's and ADPIE.It got me through all my questions.I even wrote it on my hand LOL.just to remind me every day.
